  1. I don't know why you can't just admit the more logical explanation that these prospectors have an irrational hatred specifically for the Blue Jays.
  2. K you guys know that 2016 Anthony Rizzo is like a 98th percentile outcome, right? Many, many bat-first prospects flop and are never heard of again.
  3. I would be surprised if that's the only thing factoring into Longenhagen's opinion on Tellez. Perhaps he does think Tellez is prospect-ish and he just misspoke. I dunno. KLaw is too opinionated and unwilling to change his mind based on new information, I don't take him that seriously. Funny story about KLaw (and I hope I can tell this story by now/I'm going off memory from a story that was told to me probably 4 years ago while intoxicated) that I heard from a former poster here who worked for the Jays for a time. During the Ricciardi era, when KLaw was his right hand man, KLaw used to either approve of or summarily dismiss a prospect during draft discussions by giving a thumbs up or thumbs down in the war room (think Gladiator). Well, apparently AA and others found this incredibly pretentious and took to calling him Little Caesar.
  4. Being fat is a factor. If Tellez is a 100 wRC+ guy in the majors because he lacks the bat speed to hit elite fastballs, then yeah, he is essentially a NP. He can't play anywhere but 1B, and he reportedly is average at best with the glove. I really couldn't tell you if average fastball velo is better in the AFL than it is in AA, but perhaps it is. I wouldn't be so dismissive of reports from these prospect rankers, they watch a lot of MiLB ABs.
  5. BK: Rumored Cutch package: Biagini, Vlad Jr, Reid-Foley, Tellez, Harold Ramirez for Cutch and Watson. How do you assess this offer by the Jays? Eric A Longenhagen: Vlad and Reid-Foley are the only real prospects in that deal. I've spoken with multiple sources over the last week that think Vlad Jr. is in the big leagues before he's 21 and/or that he'd go 1-1 in this year's draft. Alllllllllllllll abooooooooooard! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFLJVYXQIDM
  6. Well you can't have your cake and eat it too! If you're going to keep "Tellez is a prospect" then you have to give back 1-1.
  7. BK 1:01 Rumored Cutch package: Biagini, Vlad Jr, Reid-Foley, Tellez, Harold Ramirez for Cutch and Watson. How do you assess this offer by the Jays? 8. Sometimes I still wake up screaming DARVISH!!!!
  9. Ask him how he went from the most prestigious sports publication in America to something called "FanRag." I mean, it literally has Rag in it's name FFS.
  10. Lay off the drugs, kid.
  11. So what you're saying is... it's Jose's fault Edwin left! Kinda! In a way. Because if he had just accepted that damn QO, Edwin would have known JB was coming back and would have signed on for 4/80. Thanks a lot, Jose.
  12. It's a pillow contract that allows Jose a chance to bounce back while also waiting out draft pick compensation. I'm not sure why they're dressing it up as a 2 year deal, but either way it looks very good for the Jays.
  13. That could end up being a steal for the Royals. They're essentially paying him to be a 1 WAR player (averaged over the term).
  14. It's some optics ******** for know-nothing fans, I guess. It's like giving a promise ring to a girlfriend you already broke up with once before.
  15. He's fat, he'll be fine.
  16. Mutual options are stupid, but ok. It might as well just be a one year deal, if that's the case. A mutual option does nothing for either party; either one can reject it, both need to accept it, and an identical one year option could be negotiated in free agency anyway.
  17. Probably cuz no team makes it through the season with 5 starters, and our depth behind them is hideous.
  18. That's a fair take, but I don't buy that he's in steep decline already at his age. He is playing out of position in CF, but I think his bat has a good chance to jump back up to the .380 wOBA range.
  19. Personally, I find it heartening that Shatkins is looking for a way to add an impact player like McCutchen. He's a perfect fit for this team and there's a right price for him that may be achievable with our prospect capital.
  20. Every offer for Cutch is going to include lesser pieces in addition to headliners. Ramirez is nobody's idea of a package headliner and I think that's obvious.
  21. I've never seen people so outraged at the possibility of acquiring a recent MVP. You guys need to simma down, McCutchen would be a phenomenal addition to this team for 2 years.
  22. Lol the Pirates didn't give Ramirez away because they don't like him. They had to include him in order to get out from Liriano's salary.
  23. I expect Smoak to be traded for Jay Bruce any day now. Not too worried about his rounding error of a salary.
