  1. Boxy has had historically awful luck with these.
  2. Z3r0s, thanks for being the one to keep this league humming in spite of the obvious complacency of the long-time commissioners, myself included. Wanna run the draft lotteries?
  3. If that 3B held the tag like a pro, Vlad would have been embarrassingly out. Also that is one fat butt.
  4. Did he get the wave home or did he just say f*** it I'm going? He should have been dead meat.
  5. As great a hitter as Sanchez is, his D just blew a critical game.
  6. Completely legit slide by Correa, nothing to argue there.
  7. Wow, terrible relay by the Stankees. Altuve should have been out by a mile.
  8. Hmm but even Puig was a better hitter than MM this year.
  9. Sorry, you weren't in the league at the time to get this burn. He traded Correa for Machado this season.
  10. Do we really need a strike zone overlay on every pitch? FFS
  11. Decline isn't usually so linear, it's more of a mean projection. Conversely you could make a strong argument that projecting him for 6 WAR next year is too optimistic given his extensive history of missing huge chunks of a season.
  12. Not a chance, although it would probably be ideal if ju1ced handed over the reigns to someone who is actually here frequently.
  13. Yeah but it's not like we have a ton of great hitters to slide in that spot as an option. In the scenario where we acquire Gordon and Stanton, I'd prefer to keep Donaldson at #2 and Stanton at #4.
  14. It's really a best case scenario and almost assumes no time missed due to injury. I was going to mock out a conservative scenario and disaster scenario, but really I was more just curious to see if there was any scenario where there's surplus value on the contract, and to my surprise, there is.
  15. I would enjoy him at leadoff if he is going to be .340-.350 OBP Dee Gordon, as opposed to .300 OBP Dee Gordon.
  16. Actually, his contract might not be underwater, depending on (1) inflation of $/1WAR, (2) time missed due to injury, (3) rate of decline. Here's how his contract could play out under an optimistic scenario where he posts 6 WAR in 2018 and declines by 0.5 WAR per year thereafter. Even so, there is so much financial and injury risk involved, the Marlins will be lucky to get any Top 25 prospects for him. More likely they'll have to take a package of a Top 50 prospect + some flier prospects; a quantity package that maybe allows them to save face to some degree. Either that or they eat money, but that doesn't seem to be an option. 17. I wonder what we would have to give up if we took on the bulk of Stanton's contract + Dee. The Marlins would probably take scraps just to shed those two salaries, under the circumstances. Stanton's contract is already under water and he's coming off a career year.
  18. Report: Marlins to cut payroll to $90 million Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports that new Marlins owners Bruce Sherman and Derek Jeter plan to cut the team's 2018 payroll to around $90 million. The Marlins' payroll was a franchise-record $115 million in 2017 and is currently projected to be around $140 million in 2018 when factoring in impending raises. That means a lot of changes are coming, with a trade of Giancarlo Stanton and the $295 million remaining on his contract looking possible, if not probable. Marcell Ozuna, Christian Yelich and Dee Gordon are some other players Miami might look to move.
  19. You mean like clinically speaking or...?
  20. Spambots have been going crazy the last month or two, especially.
  21. Dude you are going full Boxy. Never go full Boxy.
  22. Zero regrets about this trade. We gave up zero quality MLB prospects and dumped Reyes' contract.
  23. And the year before he had a 170 wRC+. Back to back .400 wOBA seasons with elite defence. I don't think it was hyperbolic at all, he had long track record of being elite and no other shortstop was even close to him in his prime. Pardon me for not writing off a Hall of Fame caliber talent after a 100 game sample.
  24. Was an accurate statement at the time, dumbdick. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=ss&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=300&type=8&season=2014&month=0&season1=2014&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0 This was a pre-Lindor, Seager, Correa world. It was a wonderful time to be alive.
