  1. According to Scott Boras, every player is best interpreted as their career year, which they will re-produce annually until retirement. Age and decline are fake news. Pay for what my client did, not what he will do! I honestly think Scott Boras might be shockingly ill-educated about baseball. In reality he's probably just a dickhead lawyer who starts high and negotiates like an ******* because of his reputation and client list. The figures that he puts out in the public realm are almost never rooted in reality.
  2. Interesting that the Yankees have now traded their starting 2B and starting 3B. I wonder if they are heavily in on Machado, and what this says about Gleyber's recovery timeline.
  3. The max I'd be giving Arrieta is about 4 years, $70M after the obvious decline & wear and tear he's shown the last two seasons. Since 2015, his FB velo has dropped from 94.6 to 92.1, his SwStr has dropped from 11.1% to 8.7%, his GB rate has dropped from 56.2% to 45.1%, his HR rate has almost doubled. Just massive dropoff across the board, and he'll be 32 before the season starts. Any GM would be truly insane to give him 5 years and 9 figures.
  4. Soooo the Padres are trying to sign Hosmer and the Phillies are trying to sign Arrieta? I can't think of two worse matches.
  5. I don't have your faith that JBJ is good. He's just Kevin Pillar to me. JDM is a godly masher, at least.
  6. It's only 4 years, vs 6 of Miggy at a higher salary. Both of them looked cooked this year. Both putrid contracts. I'm interested to see what JDM gets and if baseball executives have learned anything from giving monster contracts to bat-only players in their 30s.
  7. Holy s***, Miggy still has $184M guaranteed money left on his deal lol. https://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/miguel-cabrera-creating-a-personal-drafting-plan/ Maybe the Tigers should try to flip him for Pujols 1 for 1.
  8. Zero chance of this happening.
  9. No see, I think the point you're missing is: in Toronto, we don't run ******* egomaniac athletes out of town until they start to suck. Geez dude, get with the program.
  10. Holy s***, Manziel... I haven't thought about him since I added him to my Celebrity Death Pool. Is he still alive?
  11. He's gonna get expensive soon and/or break. Maybe both. If Donaldson gets traded this season, there's a good chance Stroman will too.
  12. I know a gay dude with ALS... that must f***ing suck.
  13. That may very well be true, but TBH, as long as he's a 3.5 WAR pitcher I don't really care. We need pitching. This is all part of a larger conspiratorial microaggression because none of you bigots want to see a black man succeed! I see this for what it really is. A black man speaks his mind and y'all want to oppress him. GOT IT.
  14. I'm pretty sure Bret Sayre makes like $40k and lives in rural Wisconsin. I'm sure he leads a very sad, sexless life.
  15. Hey guys, just FYI, you don't actually have to go on Twitter.
  16. I'm gonna say Castro, Gardner, Frazier, Kaprielian.
  17. This is definitely thread-worthy.
  18. I wonder if Ohtani will be an SP, OF in Yahoo and if you'll be able to start him at either on a given day but not both. Super curious how that will play out in fantasy.
  19. Nice! They should be a playoff contender but I'm glad he didn't join a powerhouse team like the Cubs or Dodgers.
  20. - they had Ichiro
  21. The Mariners also acquired $1M in pool money along with Dee Gordon. I'm starting to get the vibe that they are the front-runner for Ohtani, which honestly, I wouldn't mind at all.
