    It's f***ing weird that Mitch Moreland basically got the same contract as Yonder Alonso. Kinda makes you wonder why Boston didn't think to sign Alonso instead when he's two years younger and coming off a way better season.

    Why two years for a guy who doesn't even have sexy platoon splits? Simple. Any time you get a chance to lock up a 32 year old 1B with a career 98 wRC+, you do it.

    I don't like it. He should have to carry both, and if the hitter isn't rosterable, that's Hurl's dilemma. If anything maybe they both count as 1 keeper in the offseason, but I really don't care to see Ohtani on waivers every week and have to sort through that mess.

    Shatkins are exploring all avenues to improve the OF. I don't have a problem with this, they are just seeing where the best value is.

    We've seen the best of Kevin Pillar. He provided elite defence on a league minimum salary for 3 seasons. Now he's approaching 30, he's going to lose a step, he still can't hit, and he's entering arb. It's all downside from here.

    Pillar has little trade value, I don't know why anyone would be insistent on shipping him out. He's a minor defensive slippage away from being a DFA candidate. No team is going to give us anything substantial for a 29 year old glove-only OF with a career 85 wRC+. That said, Profar is garbage and I wouldn't even trade Pillar for him.
