He's probably just going to be a pitcher sooner rather than later. He'll probably be a Darvish-level ace, but I'd take a generational hitting prospect with a chance to be next Trout, Miggy, Bryant, Manny, etc over any pitching prospect.
Tatis is gonna be a 3B and the K rate is cause for concern. I also don't think his speed will carry to MLB SBs. I think Bichette is going to be a better hitter with a better chance to stick up the middle.
I would like to trade God-tier closer Craig Kimbrel straight up for one of the following top pitching prospects:
Michael Kopech
Walker Buehler
Brent Honeywell
Forrest Whitley
First come, first serve; three-ways are very much appreciated and accepted. They'll probably just break and become relievers anyway! Look at Tyler Glasnow.
We thank you for your interest, however we are not accepting Mitch Kellers at this time.
No, that's where you're wrong. Morales is not a very bad deal. It's a minor bad deal. Smoak's was a very good deal. And you have to take the good with that bad.
Hey instead of bitching about how our front office spent $11M last season for a -0.6 WAR DH, and then pointing to Alonso's contract and lumping 1B/DH together, how about we re-frame this pissbaby bitchfest and say our front office spent $15.1M last season for our 2.8 WAR 1B & DH! Because you can't piss and moan about Morales out of one side of your mouth without giving this same FO credit for Smoak's bargain contract. That's a net expenditure of $5.4M per WAR, which is an excellent rate of return. Suck s***, crybabies.
And often you can, but that doesn't change the fair market value of $1 WAR (between $9-11M depending on your source). This is by no means a mega contract.
Also, Cody Bellinger and Rhys Hoskins didn't get ranked, because they're OF, of course, and you would only ever play them at OF!
(But Brandon Belt is ranked as a 1B even though he has OF eligibility).
