  1. That's kinda weird... he seems like he'd be an excellent reliever if they committed him to that role.
  2. These prospect trades can turn around in a hurry sometimes. I got crucified for handing Silvergun the league championship in our Cespedes, Lester, Capps - Dahl, Torres, Devers trade. He did win the league, as expected, but he ended up cutting Lester for nothing before the season was even over, Capps turned into a dead asset, and today I wouldn't trade either Torres or Devers straight up for Cespedes. And would I have won the league if I'd abstained from that trade? Surely not. A lot of the same could happen here; there's a good chance that half of Boxy's return ends up on the waiver wire before the year is out. I don't love Verdugo and I think Boxy can compete this year, so I still like it for him, but it's easy to envision a scenario where BTS comes out ahead.
  3. I mean I guess I get it from BTS' perspective, in the sense that (1) none of those guys are long term studs (2) he's going full tank and (3) he got a prospect that he really coveted. If your objective is to bottom out and get some high picks and you don't expect to return to contention while these players are still good (if they even are, that is -- obviously Lomo and Alonso are huge regression candidates), then it doesn't really matter so much that you get a maximized return. Certainly there's a sell-high hedge going on here, and BTS isn't concerned with squeezing nickels of value when it takes dollars to win the league in the end. There's also the added upside of being able to dig up these posts and shove them down our throats if the Verdugo stock ends up hitting.
  4. More Ender Inciarte than Chris Yelich IMO. Strong defensive profile, probably better IRL than fantasy type.
  5. I was always a Lindor fan. If Verdugo picks up SS eligibility, I'll change my tune.
  6. I like it for Boxy. Verdugo is an overrated, ginger, slap-hitting corner OF. Future relief pitcher.
  7. Apparently KC offered 7 years, $147M. At least the AAV isn't totally bonkers.
  8. Vlad doesn't even make your list!?
  9. A first basemen with a career 111 wRC+ is going to get $200M. This can't possibly go wrong.
  10. I'm looking to move future 2B 20-20 stud Scott Kingery for a SP prospect of comparable value. HMU if interested.
  11. Eh, he's almost 35. Scary age for sluggers. I just hope he ages like Papi.
  12. Heat up this hot stove, gents. To me: EE To the drunks: Mancini and Kieboom
  13. Make me a wise offer. Are we still saying that?
  14. Worthless. I can compete for a lower end playoff spot this year if I get any sort of contribution from Robles/Vlad/Gleyber.
  15. Ugh I tried so hard to trade Wade Davis before he signed with some team like the Rockies. RIP his trade value.
  16. He's on timeout for being a piece of s*** bigot.
  17. Gotcha. Makes much more sense.
  18. FFS he has a career 90 wRC+ lol. He definitely wasn't a keeper last year.
  19. Guys, this time of year really makes me reflect on how grateful I am for this league, and how grateful I am for all of you... being dumb enough to let me draft Vladdy in the 3rd round.
  20. He's never been hard-bodied. He went from chunky to skinny fat to skinny.
  21. Waltharius (Japan): How does Guerrero's defense (or lack thereof) as indicated in the tool grade affect where he stands among other prospects like Acuna, Jimenez, Torres, Robles, and Tatis? Ben Badler: Those of you have been reading me for a while know how much I love well-rounded players who add value at the plate, with their defense and especially at a premium position. The fact that I still think Vladdy Jr is the best prospect of that group should tell you how much I love his bat. -- Wo, Badler likes Vladdy over Acuna.
  22. Bo (Myrtle Beach): From an offensive profile how does Bo Bichette stack up to other middle infield talents like Tatis, Rodgers, Adames, Torres, Hiura, Lewis, Gordon, etc. Are we talking about an elite bat and just quibbling/speculating over the future position on the diamond? Ben Badler: I'd take Bichette's hit and power combo over any of those players. Gleyber and Willy Adames have less risk because they're basically MLB ready right now and some of the other players have louder tools outside the batter's box, but Bichette's offensive ability is top notch. -- I fapped.
  23. Ah... I see... well this is awkward.
