FWIW, I pitched this to SG for Keller and Hurl for Gore, neither bit. Statistically, Kopech will probably be a reliever or wash out, but somebody needs to become the next Syndergaard right?
I tried to talk him down but he knew he had me over a barrel; I wasn't getting any prospects nearly as valuable as Kopech for any of those guys on their own.
This DL stint is probably going to cost Josh Donaldson anywhere from $20M to $50M or more, depending on how long he's actually gone. He had a ton of incentive to downplay it, which also makes me wonder how bad it must actually be.
The upside (for us) however is that this could significantly increase his chance of being a Blue Jay in 2019 and beyond.
I feel like Mike Minor is going to be my Zack Godley this season, in that I don't really believe in him but then I'll trade him to BTS and he'll keep it up.
He's past the point in his career when I would expect to get an elite prospect for him. I would prefer to bundle multiple pieces from that list to a contender for one good prospect. My current risk appetite for low-level pitching prospects with ceiling is quite high, so I'm willing to roll the dice on those types.
The firesale continues!

Improvements across all key metrics, SwStr stabilizes pretty quickly. Looks like the typical fringe starter who's stuff plays up in relief. Brad Hand/Chris Devenski here I come!
