I disagree. I really thought he was going to that when he first came to the plate. You have a pitcher on the rope so you look for something good to hit. That looked right down the middle but it could be Franscisco was getting the feel for Guthrie's velocity. Anyway, it's a lost opportunity for runs but at least the pitcher count is way up for a first inning. -
It would be nice to hear fresh stuff but it can be difficult cuz not much changes in baseball and they have to say something all season long. Eventually most things will be beaten to death. Also, I am not calling his work ethics into play but some people are quite satisfied coming to work and just punching the clock-card unlike others who thrive on seeking out new or exciting developments in their field of work.

Not sure exactly what you meant by that but I am "picky". - It's a byproduct of my life experiences.

True, and I like how he goes about his business. He lets the game plan be determined by the catcher and coach while he does his part - execute the pitch. In other word, you tell me what you want done and I will use my skills to get us there. No ego at play at all.

Different stroke I guess - I think it's pretty loud/ugly. Zaun can have a nice yet unique TV personality however when I see him on air I can help but feel (and I can be wrong) he is borrowing Cherry's personality. Also, I am glad I only have to hear the "It's Sunday, can you smell the roast" phrase. I understand idea behind the segment but that saying gets old very quickly and to have to hear it every Sunday till the end of the season is going to be hard. Just do the roast without that phrase to end it and it will be a lot better.

He still has tomorrow. Can you imagine the mayhem if he not only ties it but surpasses it? The opportunity to be there will be worth the trip.

True, if the Jays manage to come back and win this for Happ it shouldl secure his place as the 5th starter till at least the ASB.

It's not one play which was responsible for this. It is the nature of baseball that streaks will happen - wins and losses - it just the timing. Nights like tonight also happen when things fall badly for the team.

That was another gem for sure. Can this effort overcome the hex which is hanging over the Jays? Can the other players become motivated by this? I would like to believe so but I am losing that vibe slowly.

This is all on you. The problem is so obvious and yet you are not doing your job. Please search out the members/visitors to see who has some sort of voodoo doll in their possession. Everything that can go wrong is going wrong for the Jays tonight. Even the ump has no power over this force.

When things go wrong like this little stretch it's tough to take. It all balances out in the long run. Jays had some similar breaks during their winning streak.

Not much you can do about Happ right now as you need a 5th starter. He is certainly not doing anything to show he belongs here.

I agree however I do not know why he was positioned so close to the 3B side. Anyway, this inning could have been finished if Happ made an accurate throw to Encarnacion.

I believe he needs to lose that uppercut swing. Someone must have slipped some "Just swing for the fences" pills in his Red Bull drink.

True, but they have still managed to put at least 1 runner on each inning so far. Vargas is getting away with it so far cuz the hitters are not showing any patience at the plate. This team can hit so sooner or later they will tee off on him. As long as Happ does not blow up from here onward I feel the team can pull this off.

I agree with you on this. The Jays have been playing with a lot of intensity and confidence so a little setback will not shatter their world. Their defence has been bordering on spectacular, their offence pretty good, and the pitching has kept them within striking distance. Everyone makes more than 1 bad play during the season and that is just what happened with Reyes - a bad play. It occurred at a critical time which made the result even more disappointing. I do not believe the team members' psyches are so fragile that something like this will cause their world to fall apart. They will definitely lose some more games before the end of the season but they will also win some more as well.

From utter amazement at Bautista's play to jaw-dropping shock at that play. What a roller-coaster ride.

The confidence level of these players are unbelievable. It looks as though they believe they cannot lose any game no matter if the opponents keep coming back. And as I type this there is Bautista's play - Amazing!!!

Looks like he has tied the MLB-AL record for HRs in May (Mantle-16). 1 more HR this month and he ties the MLB-NL record (Bonds-17). Haven't heard that mentioned on the broadcast unless I missed it. Edit: I was a few pages behind.
