Obviously, any buying in of Santana's skillset would have to include the injury caveat. If he put up last year's numbers while healthy, I'm staying far away but for me, as a non-doctor or anything of the sort, it seems like his issues very much paint the picture of back problems.
Not to equate the two, but this was the first year Santana was a full time 1B, and he was hurt. We saw what Victor Martinez did after he got out from behind the plate, and while Santana doesn't have his exceptional contact ability, he has a better eye and more power. There's no way I'm closing the book on this guy.
And yeah, I own him and am trying to trade him in the BBDL but it's not because I want to. I actually feel like I'm going to lose the trade where I deal him big time but I have Rizzo, Bird, V-Mart and Santana for 2 spots. I am considering just keeping him and waiting for him to prove me right but that will take time and people may not believe anyway.
