    I have cable strictly cause of jays games. I wish it was easy to watch them online.

    If tanaka is gonna cost $25 mil per season, why don't we sign Santana and ubaldo for a total of about $30 mil per season. Both seemed to have figured something out last year. I say throw Jimenez on the weighted ball program immediately as well, try to gain 1-2 mph back on his fastball.

    Yes he definitely could be, but it's only 3 years and if it backfires hopefully we have enough young cheap pitching next year to cover up the mistake, or it works out and we'll have a surplus next year. I'd take the chance.

    Casey close is on vacation until next week apparently. So nothing will even start til next Monday. I'm guessing he signs on jan 24th.

    The way I understand it is, every team can negotiate with him with the assumption they will pay 20 mil if they sign him...maybe I'm wrong.

    Someone should go post on all other 29 mlb.com boards for teams and let them know the jays board has effectively moved here. This should also be done at the other independent boards for other teams which don't really use the mlb.com boards. During the season it's fun when posters from other teams come talk smack. We might not get that here unless the word is spread.

    So griffin gets paid for this? What the f***! AA is on thin ice...Richard says so. I was expecting a quote from a source or something when I opened that article. I wish I could speculate and write a story about it and get paid. What a joke.

    I agree with renaming the thread as lunchbox suggests. I also read verducci's article about tanakas innings and it worries me, unless the yanks sign him then it pleases me.

    Makes sense for the Astros, but if I'm tanaka I'm going to the dodgers before the worst team in all of baseball. Or to the cubs so I can be the guy who broke the streak. Or the jays so I could make Saaviour very happy.

    Should we start getting our hopes up that AA is waiting to pounce? What teams will go for him? Yankees- never count them out but might be at limit with luxury tax Phillies- could they replace the docs salary with tanaka? Red Sox- would need to make trade. Angels-can't afford it. Chicago teams- maybe the cubs? Mets- I could see them signing him with eye towards next year to pair with Harvey. Giants-can't afford it. Tigers- likely can't afford. Cardinals- no need to take the risk. Dodgers- do they have room in rotation? Rangers- likely done with Choo. Nationals- don't need him? Any other team that could even come close to affording him? Jays-definitely looking to add a starter............

    Why is this team f***ed in 2 years, if we suck this year we can unload serious talent at the trade deadline and next off season and load up on young promising prospects. Guys like Bautista, EE, Reyes, dickey, Rasmus, morrow, etc could bring in a boat load of new talent.

    You guys keep writing off the off season with over 3 months until opening day...i will keep checking twitter and mlbtraderumors until something happens....every 20 seconds.

    Ryan f***ing goins must be the most talked about player ever talked about on this forum. I believe ryan goins and his John McDonald stick is an upgrade over the s*** show of izturis and Boni that we witnessed last year. I swear I'd take him over those two if he went hit less all season, and i was a huge fan of picking up Boni at the time when we did.....f***in hate the guy now though. Bring in 2 top quality pitchers, along with the upgrade we have of dumping JP and Boni, and I believe we have a shot next year. We can always upgrade 2nd base at the deadline when/if we're actually in the race.

    The longer this takes, the more chance it's us. IMO. Where's all the jays reporters on twitter tonight? They have a life or something, not on twitter on Friday night?

    Even the "mystery team could be the jays" is only coming from fans isn't it? Any halfway reliable people saying this?

    Now that tanaka isn't being posted I bet free agent pitchers start to sign real fast.

    Didn't he have tommy john in May? Maybe if there's a team option attached, I guess in July he can come back and replace morrow when he gets injured...
