  1. I guess I should be the jays pitching coach.
  2. So releasing Zeke means the jays save 1.6 mil of his 1.9 mil...and Oh cost us 2 mil, so for the most part our payroll space/room has hardly changed. Loving me Shapiro/Atkins.
  3. Slightly off topic, did anyone see the John Lott photo of Stroman throwing sidearm??? Wtf! Is that not going to destroy his elbow? It can’t be good to change arm angles like that! Who’s letting him do that???
  4. It’s clear to me we are rebuilding without tanking, and the beauty so far of Atkins and Shapiro is that while we rebuild we have an outside shot at the wild card! And the best part about baseball is everyone has a chance on opening day (unless your team full on tanks). And hey, IF Alford hits .320, and if Borucki wins a spot in the rotation and is successful, and if Sanchez is an ace again, and if Grichuk is Smoak II, and if Smoak is for real etc etc we can have a playoff team...and even if some of that doesn’t happen or possibly if something else unforeseen happens we have a playoff run.
  5. I just looked at the list of unsigned free agent pitchers, it is massive! We will definitely sign at least 2. How bout our old friends drew Hutchison and Dustin McGowan....maybe to minor league deals. Cahill or Garcia for the 5th spot? Or break the bank on Yu and push everyone down a spot (unlikely).
  6. Quickly moving from a Stars and Scrubs team to a team with depth. Great way to rebuild in my opinion. Eventually start replacing players with Bo and Vlad and add some stars back into the mix, in the meantime shoot for the wild card and keep the season interesting. I feel we will see a few more moves to address pitching depth soon...
  7. We can cut zeke and pay him 1/6th of his contract.
  8. Nice move if it means we are cutting Zeke and saving his 2 mil, can we do that? There is some rule about paying a portion to arbitration eligible players right?
  9. I’d include pillar in a Yelich trade in a heart beat, then let Pompey, Alford and Teoscar fight it out for centre field.
  10. So I guess Yanks will be out on Harper...and turn their attention to, hmmmmm how about Donaldson as a free agent next year. Kill me!
  11. Any if you living in Toronto, go watch Joey Bats last home stand. He might be having a horrible season, but the guy is a Blue Jay god! Cheer his every at bat LOUDLY! When he hit that bat flip home run, I was 10 beers in sitting intensely on the edge of my seat with a couple friends. I nearly hit my head on the ceiling I jumped so high, cleared the coffee table and nearly passed out from the rush of blood to my head! Unreal moment! Give the guy a statue Rogers!

Do we have a shot at this? I'm certain the answer is still no, but maybe I can start to dream a little and begin to enjoy this season. Man, this is precisely why I didn't want to finish around .500, to avoid being tricked into thinking we are a contender. But, perhaps we can be. If they are looking at Sparkman for Liriano then forget that and let's play for the miracle...and it will take a miracle.
  13. We are not talking about if the Cubs or Dodgers or Indians are worth tuning in for. We're talking about the Jays. Go watch whatever team you like. Jays are barely watchable right now.
  14. I'd tune in for every game if we call up Alford, trade Bautista and Pillar, somehow got mr glass Pompey to not be injured, and have a 3rd rookie outfielder from pillar or Bautista out there...some entertainment to see which one of the 3 can stick. Maybe even start a, can Alford stick thread!
  15. This is easily the hardest season to watch in a long time. Even during the 22 years of futility there was prospects to watch or something. We got nothing! Worst. Season. Ever. I wonder what tv ratings are?
  16. I got a friend nicknamed Sparky, must be built into my auto correct or I just naturally typed it? So, how bout.....what's the problem Spanky?
  17. What's the problem Sparky?
  18. I think everyone here agrees this team will be selling, and in reality that is better for our long term outlook. The question is, if you were GM would you trade JD? Pay him 20+ mil next year and go for it again, only to let him walk? Sign him for 7+ years? Obviously depends on the return. I'm no prospect guru (especially the last couple years as our team has been so entertaining), but if you are and vote sell JD...throw in a potential target we could go after.
  19. If Osuna has diarrhea he wouldn't be on the bench, if he had a cold he'd be pitching, if he had the flu he wouldn't be sitting in the bench, if his arm wasn't feeling good he'd be sitting on the bench. If he was on the bench due to an impending trade, we'd have heard about the trade by now....oh wait, we're in it so no one will be traded, I forgot. Anyone blaming gibby for losing this needs to look closely at the guys bull pen options, we are an injury or two away from seeing a fan out there.
  20. Anyone want to change their answer?
  21. I'm just pissed because in a potentially wasted season, watching prospects try to adjust to majors is the best part...and we can't even have that!
  22. I feel neither is the correct answer, but staying the course is slightly worse so tear this mother down.
  23. Think about it people...a 50 win season could be somewhat entertaining in a perverted way and more useful then .500.
  24. I read he topped out at 94 yesterday, but I guess that's wrong. He hit 97 regularly last year I believe.
