  1. Why did you leave?
  2. Has EE's value ever been so high? My god, what would he fetch right now?
  3. If Lind would have homered... would that have been the first time players went back to back in the same inning?
  4. I really think DJ Davis is going to find himself on that list before too long.
  5. Give me some examples of who you would sign.
  6. No that's not what I said at all. You said. Which is absolutely wrong. History shows you are wrong. Every year the top 5 or 10 winning pitchers are better as a group then the bottom 5 or 10 most losing pitchers. the fact that an absolute great pitcher can conceivably go 0-30 with an 0.5 era doesn't change that. The fact a pitcher can win a cy young while racking up a tonne of loses doesn't change that..... the fact that pitcher wins is a terrible tool for pitcher evaluation doesn't change that. You are simply wrong.
  7. Wrong. Yes it's a bad gauge. But what you are saying is incorrect. Just because a very good pitcher can lose a pile of games, doesn't mean, it's just as likely to find great pitchers at the bottom of the win column then at the top.
  8. Really? So if the Jays were to pick 8th next year... they would lose the 11th pick they also get?
  9. Really? So if you had a team next year... and you could pick a starting rotation of the 5 pitchers with the most wins.... or the 5 pitchers with the most loses, you're telling me that it wouldn't make a difference either way?
  10. POS? Why the hatred?
  11. I don't think JPA is a great catcher, I don't think he will end up as one. But the hatred towards him is bordering on the absurd. 90% of the people railing on JPA now, were the same people who railed against EE in 2011..... non stop dfa chants, when he looked lost at the plate. Baseball is a weird sport.... sometimes the simplest changes can make a difference. Who knows. Maybe he hits the velocity program to get his arm a bit better to throw out runners.... maybe EE introduces hime to his Dominican hitting coach.... or supplier.
  12. What was RR's twtw last year?
  13. But what if we know the batter only ends up on first?
  14. I don't think it is static. If you're a player and you're told how important walks are, to the point it messes up your approach at the plate... resulting in a lower OBP, higher K rate, bad counts, ect.... then the pursuit of walking harms the value of the walk.
  15. Sure there is. You're hearing walks are not important, when people are in fact arguing they are over rated. Which is a completely different argument. Arguing facebook stock is overvalued, isn't saying it's bad to own stock in facebook.
  16. The other ting is this. Once you get into the post season and good pitching largely takes over... I find teams that rely heavily on walks... just get set down a lot more. I thought that fit the Yankees a bit in the post season the last few years.... I think it will win you a bunch of games to get you there, but once you are there it can sometimes be a bit of a liability... that is trying to see a lot of pitches and then being down 0-2 and 1-2 a lot.
  17. No.... if you get 650 walks/yr... that means you are successful in the pursuit of walks. Again... I'm not saying they are unimportant. ... Also 650 walks, is a tonne of walks.
  18. Really? Just exactly how valuable walks are? Spot on exact?
  19. There is no chance of that.
  20. Overrated... not- not important.
  21. The thing about walks..... is that so long they were wayyyy underrated, that when it was discovered how important they were....... they became overrated. More in the sense that I think a lot of players hurt themselves and their team in pursuit of walks.... taking to many pitches from a strike thrower, means you K much more.
  22. Was listening to an interview with Johnson's agent, Matt Sosnick? http://pmd.fan590.com/audio_on_demand-3/Matt-Sosnick-with-Jeff-Blair-jb-20130725-Interview.mp3 Yeah, he's a little bit full of s***.... but what I got from it was that he is basically saying that if AA offers Johnson a qualifying offer that Johnson will most likely take it? Is that correct? I don't know, might be a smart roll of the dice. He can't be that bad again.... can he?
