How about this. Imagine the Travis Snider scenario. Thole comes into the game for JPA. You see JPA with tears in his eyes in the dug out. All his team mates hugging him...... and word comes up that the bluejays and JPA have just reached an agreement on a 6 year extension.

Do you remember when Snider was called in and told he was traded? That was very sad for me. I was driving listening to the game and had to pull over... I was in shock.

The Jays need an absolute epic defensive 2nd baseman next year.... or SS if you want Reyes to play 2nd... which might be the best option.

Yip that's the one. But just observing. He's ok at pitch framing... gotten better. Not a terrible defender, but below average.... I would assume a way below average arm.

Was a pretty bad call though. But the way he took the pitch was a bit of a show up on the umpire.

Some of these are obvious... but some are just straight up observations. Rasmus moved up in the box last year... and it worked for about a month. Did anyone else notice what it was like watching Perez pitch after Johnson? The movement on Perez's pitches. Maybe JJ goes on the velocity program next year.

I think people underrate how important 1st base defense is.

If JPA wasn't such a meatball off the field, people would have near the problem with him behind the plate.... below average for sure.... but a team can win with him there. I wonder if Jimenez can get a look in September.
