  1. I didn't want to be an idot and bump a really old thread, but it is kinda fun looking back on the 2013 mlb draft thread. Looking at the guys now people were so hyped on. Man, so many did absolutely nothing. Mark Appel, for all the fuss and controversy doesn't even look like he will make the bigs.
  2. Just curious. Over the next few days or so the bluejays will draft and later sign (whenever that deadline is) about 30 players. When do they release the 30 guys they will need to in order to make room for the new guys?
  3. But he wasn't the age you could drive a car. He was 7 of 8 children (raised by kids) and home-schooled. Actual experts in the field assessed him and gave him almost no chance to re-offend.
  4. This does not in the least excuse Heimlich's behavior, but in reading about him this stood out. Also, if a team wants to draft him. They better make sure he tries as best he can to make amends to his past.
  5. Geeze, I guess I agree. But 15 is pretty young too. Hard to defend. But I don't think you can say that he can't become a a good person after committing that crime. That said, they are going to torture him when and if he makes it to the bigs. He would get less hassle if he murdered someone.
  6. Wow. It just goes to show. I thought Smoak was an inexcusable mistake of a contract. I hated him more then anyone on the team.
  7. Good to hear. I think Pentecost might still be heard from as he finally seems to be coming back from injuries that seriously derailed him.
  8. Even if there are some prospects not performing up to expectations I would think the Bluejays would have to be close to hitting top 10 farm systems, No?
  9. Ugghhh. That's a terrible sign for his development.
  10. I've been saying for a long time and I am no expert what so ever. I am also open to being 100% wrong, a very good chance that I am. But say he needs 1000 more PA's before he reaches the majors. What benefit is there at all for having those PA's being distributed say 200 low A, 300 A, 250 AA, 250 AAA as oppose to all 1,000 of them being at the AAA level? About the only argument I've heard is, in night being able to handle it they will develop bad habits. Or in running into adversity their confidence will be shattered and apparently start sucking. But I just don't see it playing out that way. They are smart, the coaches are smart. They know exactly what they are trying to accomplish and bad habits would not be allowed to develop. And quite the opposite could conceivably occur if there are still bad habits still being employed in the lower levels that will be exploited at AAA. To me, winning doesn't matter in the minors so any dip in production from not using a better developed but low ceiling AAA shortstop doesn't really matter, though maybe you want that spot reserved especially for someone ready to fill in at the major league level, that's a good argument. Sorry, I'm rambling.
  11. Bo Bichette should go right to Buffalo. f*** it.
  12. 2016 MLB redraft. Where does Bo Bichette go.
  13. Geeze is Bo Bichette now a top 50 prospect in baseball? Top 20?10?
  14. My theory is that most people on this thread that are loudly complaining about Wilner, are people who have called his show in the past and got slammed by Wilner. I like Wilner. He's a massive homer and his use of sketchy stats to make his case boarders on ridiculous sometimes, but still, you really miss him when someone else tries to host his show. I kind of trolled Mike Wilner once. About 5 years ago. The point I made was so bad, that he interrupted the broadcast to mention it to the crew and say how stupid it was. I was so proud.
  15. I can't believe that team is winning with that lineup they are throwing out there.

    NBA Thread

This is a reason to just hate the way the NBA draft is set up. Tanking is just such a legitimately good strategy. Say what you want about the 76er's but they are going to be loaded if they can avoid injuries. And the way the NBA is set up, the team that is the worst in the league is farther ahead then the team that is say mid pack to even where the Raptors are (6th to 10th in the league). They really have to rethink the draft.
  17. I think they are just average. The could have signed Thames with the money they spent on Bautista. They signed Justin Smoak. They did do a decent job with stating pitching. What they do this summer will be telling. But as of now, they are pretty average IMO.

    NBA Thread

    Was there ever any doubt?
  19. But Tebow went 3-4 last night so that will be a bit of a bonner kill.
  20. I never heard of Bradley Jones. Any potential? Or just a guy?
  21. David Cooper could hit. I think he f***ed his back or something. Even with the s***** back, he could walk on the field tomorrow and be a better option then Smoak. The deal is truly puzzling to me.
  22. Two points. 1) Big free agent signings over, what seems the last decade have been almost all been instant regret signings. Who have we missed out on? Panda Bear? Albert Pujols? David Price? Prince Fielder? Josh Hamilton? Jose Reyes? The list goes on and on. Personally I think it's a blessing we don't attract the big name free agents. 2) I think teams are stating to realize the first point. So if the Jays want to be that dumb team in the future, they probably can be.
  23. I'm kind of glad the team is doing this poorly. They got pieces in the farm. They just need the next two years to restock and suck.
  24. And I'm not just saying that, the same way you would about any player that suddenly found it. Thames always had potential. I still remember seeing him for the 1st time in spring training years ago. Took the hardest cut I have ever seen. I'm pretty sure a lot of guys on here were calling for his signing as well. But signing Justin Smoak was just an awful signing. There are literally 10 or 20 guys I can come up with that would be a better signing then that. Travis Snider is garbage now and he would have been a better option at that money. Matt Hague deserved the job more then Justin Smoak did.. and he didn't deserve the job. I just can't undertsand why you throw away money like that.
  25. Man. I think this team seriously missed the boat on Eric Thames.
