  1. Jeter has the 40th most WAR in the history of baseball. Could move up to 35th this year with a good year. He had a huge impact on the most recognizable team in the sport. I hate when people bash Jeter. I get that it is the fashionable thing to do, and yes, it's nauseating how the NY media fellate him at every given moment, but he deserves the respect of every baseball fan out there. Cheers to a legend.
  2. lol He's a nice guy. He comes across as a little stubborn though. Anyways, let's add some winz AA.
  3. Big game tonight. Time to start widening the gap in the east. I hope they sit Amir again. TH had a great game the other night. Give him a real rest through the ASB.
  4. Yeah I really got burnt because Chris Capuano put together decent innings totals in 2011 and 2012. He's old. He's an injury risk. He pitched the last three years in extreme pitchers parks and put up mediocre results. Excuse me if I don't get an erection over the possibility of getting a few M surplus value on a backend rotation guy.
  5. lol That's a pretty bold statement to make. I'd be willing to bet that Ervin Santana will pitch more than Dustin McGowan or Brandon Morrow over the next three years.
  6. Are we talking about the same Chris Capuano who has only pitched 550 innings since the end of 2007?
  7. Has there ever been a 3 year contract that has been absolutely disastrous for a team? Of course not. This team needs wins TODAY. If we have a bit of negative value from Santana in his third season, who cares? Front load the contract if this is a huge concern. We're past the point of trying to maximize value on every dollar spent. Santana makes this team better today and doesn't hinder the long term health of the team. Absolute no brainer. Watch AA sign him to a 5-6 year deal though lol.
  8. Even if he doesn't provide any surplus value.. It's a 3 year deal. By no means does it hurt us going forward (Steamer has him at 2.7 next year as well if projections are going to be used). He's durable, he gives you innings, and he's also outperformed his FIP for four consecutive years. He's not some piece of trash. He's a solid middle of the rotation pitcher who will help us dramatically.
  9. You wouldn't sign Santana to a 3 year deal? It's not a 5-6 year deal we're talking about here...
  10. Nothing short of a massive failure from AA. No excuses.
  11. Of course he's not. Aldridge averages 2X more minutes... Val and Drummond are almost at comparable minutes. You can't compare Wright and Aldridge. JV is young and has room for growth but I can't see him developing into a beast offensively. Limited post moves and lacks the toughness to continuously grind it out down low. He has age on his side so who knows what can happen but Drummond is better in all aspects of the game. If you're only going to shoot at a .500ish clip as a centre, you better be an elite defender/shot blocker or you won't last that long.
  12. Drummond has a PER of 22.3, shoots at a .613 clip, 1.9 BPG and averages 13 boards a game Jonas has a PER of 15, shoots at .509, .9 BPG, and averages 9 boards a game (albeit in slightly less MPG) They aren't even comparable. Drummond can't shoot free throws. That's all Val has on him.
  13. Hansborough is very fundamentally sound though. Solid defender, solider scorer downlow, solid rebounder. Don't care if he picks up 6 fouls. Give him his 15-20 minutes on a nightly basis. DeRozan is so frustrating. He's so talented but I cannot believe how much he just settles for that mid range jumper. It's ridiculous. If he drove to the lane even 20% more it would make a huge difference. This team gets by on excellent ball movement. Derozan becoming a ball hog hinders that. Someone needs to have a talk with this guy.
  14. Hansborough should be getting minimum 20 MPG with Amir out.
  15. Losing faith in JV by the day. Man.... He's soft. Brutal defender and he does the same f***ing pump fake every time on offense. Demar was s***. Stop settling for mid range jumpers.... Jesus... Ugly win but I'll take it. Ross was so efficient tonight. Patterson too.
  16. Hayes -16 in 6 mins. Terrible lol. Good win tho.
  17. Almost 8 years ago. Crazy when you think about it.
  18. I think we'd all be satisfied with 100 innings of solid pitching from him at this point tbh. Use strategic DL stints with him every few months to keep him fresh and to reassess the injury situation.
  19. I really, really want McGowan to succeed. Love his attitude and was such a shame to see him get hurt. Just seems like a really cool dude. I won't hold my breath but he's shown glimpses in the past few years of still having something left in the tank.
  20. Any starter with any type of upside makes sense for us. We're not in a position to be turning away pitching depth at a reasonable price.
  21. We probably got outbid by like 10-15M (Meaning we likely bid like 2M lol)
  22. But it's almost certain they lose Laba now. Might backfire.
  23. Buy low on Anthony Bennett lol... He's turning it around!
  24. I still can't believe Toronto FC just signed Julio Cesar. lol That's just f***ed.
