I'd like to think so. There have been worse in the HOF than him no? Two time CY Young winner, 8x all star and has a postseason no hitter is a pretty good resume. -
That is a weird structure... mutual option is lower than 2017 but the 2019 is worth more than 2017. I wonder how the 2019 vests, the way it's displayed it looks like if the 2018 offer is accepted then 2019 will vest, essentially the mutual option being resigning him for 2 years/$37M hmmm. Might be one of the few times a mutual option actually gets triggered but I still doubt we see that

I want him in the HOF as a Jay. Halladay will definitely get in with a Jays hat. I don't think Bautista will have a shot, but having 3 Jays would be great -

When has a mutual option worked? Barring an injury or a drop in performance Bautista would probably want to re-test the market next year right ?

That was my point! Cecil's not here anymore. I already said I'm probably overstating the issue and I'm sure they'll patch it up I have faith in him, I already took my L lol

For the record I was talking about the period between Cecil injury and acquiring Benoit but I just re-read what Shapiro said and I missed the part where he said the BP will be a constant season long adjustment so that's a moot point

Fine, but I still think the BP isn't done. Once again what I think is the FO has done an amazing job with what they had... I think there are a couple of things we need to fix here and there but like I said earlier, off-season isn't over yet and I'm confident we'll end up with a bat and a BP arm + a couple of depth moves (for starting pitching, we are lacking there) no worries here

Noooooooooooo sorry I mean earlier in the year last year. When Cecil was injured and Benoit wasn't acquired. I don't think we expect Grilli to put up the same numbers right? Didn't he statistically slow down the last month of the season? Benoit was a big help in our 2nd half push and we won't have him in the pen again. No Cecil, are we really going to trust Loup? We decided to use Liriano out the pen instead of Loup in the post season I don't think he's gonna magically going to improve overnight. I guess the takeaway is we're gonna constantly adjust the BP like last year? Lets hope we can make magic happen.

We need an outfielder and more BP arms. We don't know how Grilli's arm is gonna hold especially after slowing down last year, and Loup hasn't proved to show that he's gotten back to at least being decent. The bullpen you mentioned is not post season calibre and we saw what a bad BP did to us last year and what a great BP does for other teams. But that's why I said the off-season isn't done yet, you asked as of now and I said for what they started with it's great but are the holes all filled? No, but I don't expect them to be filled either because we literally don't have the farm resources and the FA market is s***

Okay, let me explain. Its not weak as in Shapiro & Atkins did a bad job. It's weak as in, we didn't fill all our holes. Now, lets (like you say) put it in context. Shapiro & Atkins picked up this team just off of their first postseason appearance in 20+ years, a lot of old people with big/immovable contracts and a bad farm system, with 2 of the 3 biggest (aging) sluggers on the team being on the last year on their contract. This offseason, we still have an empty farm that we can't call up from or trade from and the FA market is one of the worst in recent memory. What they did has been really great. I guess weak with no context then, IMO its really not their fault that the holes aren't filled

What I mean by weak isn't to criticize what they did or didn't do, I'm just speaking in general. Lots of holes still remain, and it will be hard to fill but it's not really their fault, the team they inherited is old with a meh farm and this is quite possibly one of the worst FA classes in the last few years. The next few weeks are gonna be really interesting

Personally, I think so far it's been kinda weak HOWEVER, Shapiro did go on the air saying then next 5 weeks are going to be busy for us. People are acting like the offseason is done next week

Why are people still dwelling on the EE situation? I personally liked their approach of offering and moving on when being rejected, if we waited (like others have said AFTER the fact) and someone decided to drop $$$ on Edwin, judging by how early Morales and Pierce signed we would be in a pretty bad spot. I don't like the idea of pausing operations because we want to wait a month for a player to make a decision, especially since we gave him a good offer Plus we got a draft pick out of it too.
