Pearce played most of the spring games in left so having him and Smoak everyday could well be a possibility! However someone did make the point that Estrada is a flyball pitcher so maybe having Zeke for the game isn't too bad of an idea Last?! I liked the beginning optimism but come on!

I am pumped Even more so when I make my timmies run, nothing says summer like + degrees, an Iced Capp, and a Jays game! Sucks that there's no sun outside... oh well!

Yeah intriguing maybe we can pick up pieces kind of like how we picked up Grilli or Barney 2 years ago, but what I mean is higher-upside players. Nick Franklin may well be one of the higher-upside players we see on the waiver wire, which is why I would love for us to snap him up!!

Saltalamacchia I don't mind because he's just a backup catcher, not much wiggle room there. Leone is just a replacement for Osuna until he's back. Everyone else yup - blech. Maybe the waiver wire will get interesting down the line - I doubt it though. I have a feeling we might see Pompey sooner than later

What a time to be alive for a Toronto sports fan! If the Leafs clinch then every major Toronto team would have made a postseason appearance in the past year! 2 Semi-Finals and one finals appearance too so pretty good showing!

Even if they're owed money? Doesn't claiming a DFA'd player put the new team on the hook for the rest of the contract while releasing him make us owe him the million? Unless there's an agreement to forgo money or something

I agree but I want to understand the idea behind releasing him instead of DFA'ing him. However I do anticipate a tweet coming in the next 2 weeks along the lines of "Upton showed poor work ethic throughout Spring Training"

Then in that case f*** is Smoak doing hogging a roster spot? Pearce, Morales and Bautista can all play decent 1B. I don't understand the obsession the FO has with Smoak

This is another thing with me. What happens if Pillar gets injured or needs a day off? We don't have any natural CFs, Zeke was so s*** in the games he played there. I honestly think when Pompey gets activated he's going to come up to the majors Also I can't believe we are still carrying Smoak. How the f*** are we carrying 3 natural 1Bs on the roster?

But Goins is barely replacement level... I didn't even think Upton had any competition, I thought it was going to be Zeke vs. Goins. Upton must have shown up to ST with a bad attitude and poor work ethic to get him canned like that. This resembles the time we DFA'd Valencia and it came out he was a cancer here and in Oakland

This is mind boggling. I don't remember us being this attached to Joe Inglett or Mike McCoy. Talk about a glorified glove, Upton probably showed no interest or intensity in training leading to him being cut. I refuse to believe we cut him for going just because we preferred Goins.
