  1. It's a balancing act. You bring on too many Canadians to push on fans and drum up local interest and the team starts to suck.
  2. Household names? How about going out and getting good players instead. Because right now there are some household names being thrown around as trade targets that I would piss on if they weren't on fire.
  3. It's typical 2014 society. Give me what I want right now and I'll cry and complain that it was someone else's fault when my future is f***ed a year or two from now. Translated into 2014 Blue Jays fans minds: Alex better empty the farm for Utley, Cliff Lee and Ryan Howard. I don't care if we have to pay their full salaries, get them here. Then two years from now when we have one draft under our belts, no farm, everyone's retired or off to free agency and the Jays suck, those same fans who sat arm in arm with Beeston lapping at the tit of a geriatric s***, POS old expensive garbage team are now livid at Anthopoulos for making those trades.
  4. I trust Franklin more than I trust Kawasaki or Tolleson at the plate and in the field ROS. And then the benefit of having him for a few more years, but that doesn't matter right now to fans. head shaker
  5. New guy speaks for everyone.....nice.
  6. The Jays had 4 million people going through the gates. Nobody wasn't a fan back then. Then the '94 work stoppage and the Jays having a bad team happened and all of a sudden these "baseball" fans.....weren't.
  7. To make the playoffs, not win the WS right?
  8. I'll await my banning, because whenever the opportunity presents itself or I think of it, its getting a post.
  9. Apparently we're only allowed to talk about the Jays. Hopefully the mods aren't being pressured by posters or the Admin into acting like RC employees. Because those employees are f***ing stiffs.
  10. To the complainers: It's okay for Dickey to bring it up in his book, but it's not okay to joke around about it?? Nothing is off limits for jokes in the Provincial jails.
  11. 11m for each of 2015 & 2016. And I'm guessing the same type of production Nick Franklin would provide with regular playing time without paying anything salary-wise. You'd be paying a little more in prospects being sent.
  12. If they go for it, and don't make the playoffs. With all they'd given up from the farm to go for it. In a couple years with no farm and no big assets to trade, the fans will leave like they did in '95+ and most people will be crying about how s*** the FO is.
  13. Going after a Nick Franklin improves the current mess they've been putting out at 2B all year. And it addresses a team need for the next few years on the cheap.
  14. It won't be something they need, it'll be the best package.
  15. I'd rather Franklin, like Spanky mentioned. You maybe pay a little more in prospects due to age and control, but dealing Jack Z instead of Friedman, might balance things out. And you pay very little in salary over the next couple of years.
  16. Painting titled "Dickey at the Bat" Jesus' man juice is flying everywhere after pulling out.
  17. Osuna back today with a clear inning with 2K's and a ground out.
  18. Maybe Jose's leg isn't a 100% yet and this is just a way to keep him in the lineup without further aggravating it.
  19. Soon to be 24 year olds games that revolve around speed and keeping the ball on the ground should already be adept bunters. This is stuff they should be working on in their ascent to the majors. Not while they're in the majors or just before they make the majors.
  20. If that turns out to be the case and assets who are leaving or past their prime (eg. Janssen & Rasmus) are extended for premium money or left to walk via free agency with nothing gained in return as a future piece, then I will be off the AA bandwagon. It would be a disservice to the organization by not gaining future assets by moving leaving vets or not crippling the team financially by giving Janssen or Rasmus free agent market value contracts when we have capable replacements on LG MIN contracts to take their places and allocate the money elsewhere. And if the Jays aren't looking at a playoff berth and they don't move a vet to a contender for a chance to win, Alex has done a disservice to the player for not giving them a chance to win. Simply unacceptable.
  21. If the Jays continue this tailspin and the FO bangs it's head and realizes they should sell. Is SP-Jake Thompson of the Tigers a reasonable return/ask for Casey Janssen? More, less? No reason for the Jays to extend Janssen. And he's at the best time to sell....high. The Tigers need 'pen help and the farm in Detroit has taken a back seat to the immediate needs for awhile now. Stilson gets promoted to fill the void left by Janssen. Jays pen for 2015....come up with a couple of candidates let them fight for the closers job and go from there.
  22. I hope the FO doesn't feel forced to make a move.
  23. I don't understand why people would be irritated hearing about other teams players getting inked.
  24. Agree with everything you said.
