  1. If we had hitters who were adept at bunting, or were developed to be complete hitters and be able to hit to all fields, I actually wouldn't mind guys laying down a sac bunt or try and bunt for hits the odd time. It puts the idea in the opposition's head that they may bunt. Or if the guys were taught how to spray the ball to all fields, teams would be mostly playing us straight up defensively instead of shifting.
  2. If you have guys in the lineup that aren't mashers, they better be doing more than trying to hit bombs. And it better involve trying to get on base or moving runners along.
  3. John Franco didn't throw hard and had his fair share of walks. I'd prefer to see the Jays spend a bit of money and go after Jason Motte in the off season. Maybe an off season of rest, after coming back from TJS would allow him to get back closer to what he was than this year. I can't see Motte costing much more than what Janssen got this year.
  4. If a team is playing the shift on a hitter who has the ability to go the other way, I don't see why the hitter should continue to try and muscle a ball through the shift. Do I want Bautista or Edwin bunting or trying to steal, no. Do I want the other less than hitters on the Jays doing things other than what Jose and Edwin do? You're damn right. And it doesn't mean bunting all the time or employing a hit & run all the time.
  5. On the otherhand couldn't the same be said about Howie Clark manning up and accepting that a person yelling "Ha" doesn't mean "I got it"
  6. With the uncertainty of the catcher blocking the plate rule, isn't sliding pretty much the only option when the catcher is making a play at the plate?
  7. True. Best for the Jays to retaliate by spiking an Oriole, a real hard slide, or just "Albert Belle" someone.
  8. Seeing as its dumb having Bautista and Edwin bunt/sacrifice, what else are you advocating against in regards to small ball?
  9. Sadly they're not a big money player.
  10. I said "why's that" when you asked where Goodell was on the subject. I wish the league and team would say "we're letting the courts handle the incident and at the conclusion of the case we'll take action." And even if Rice & Peterson were to serve jail time, I'd put money on it there would still be groups pushing for the players to not play another game.
  11. And the Jays are lucky enough to have both.
  12. He did miss close to half the season and ST. Morales is playing like s*** as well.
  13. You're expecting a big and busy off season.
  14. IMO public figures shouldn't be held to higher standards than everyone else. They should be held to the same standards.
  15. Put him in the role for a year and then move him.
  16. Parents are so soft nowadays its embarrassing. And even though I am not one, I shake my head when I see friends and family punish their kids. 2-5 minute time-outs and then all is forgiven????? My god, grow some balls and be a f***ing parent first and not a friend.
  17. It's refreshing to have the spotlight on the NFL and not MLB.
  18. The police are so against charging women its hilarious. The reason being is to not separate the woman from the possible relationship they have with a child. That's why women who make it to jail custody are way worse than the guys, because they've either been given many chances and have screwed up so many times they must be a piece of s***, or they've done something so bad, the police can't ignore the circumstance and have to charge and the JP has no choice but to send them to jail. The inequities in the justice system are a f***ing joke. And even when women make it to jail, they're given exponentially more access to programs and treatment.
  19. To the people who don't agree with smacking a child, or knowing that Time-outs are as useless as the parents that administer them. Maybe grounding the kid and stick to the grounding is the answer? Go to your room and don't come out the rest of the day. Or you're not playing with your friends for the next week. Or I'm taking away your Play Station or Xbox for the next week/month. Make the punishment hurt them for what the child likes.
  20. 100% agree.
  21. Maybe they asked him to smile?
  22. Hopefully Stanton's okay and recovers. I'd hate to see a Tony Conigliaro situation where an elite player's career is derailed and eventually cut short.
