    Perez will begin the season on the 15-day injured list after being diagnosed with right elbow inflammation, Craig Mish and Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald report. This qualifies as good news, as Perez was cleared of any structural damage in his pitching elbow and will not require surgery. He will, however, still be sidelined for several weeks while the inflammation subsides. If there's a silver lining -- beyond the lack of structural damage -- Perez's recurring fingernail issue will have more time to heal. Fantasy managers should prepare to be without the 20-year-old for at least the first month or so, but a clearer timetable figures to be available in the coming weeks.

From BA today: At the risk of making an extremely complex issue overly reductive, it’s still unclear where fans of roughly 30% of MLB teams will watch their team in market beyond 2024. Diamond Sports Group, which pays for the television rights for 11 MLB clubs, filed for bankruptcy last year. Newfound backing from streaming giant Amazon could help them stave off total collapse and remain viable beyond this season, which was no guarantee several months ago. But cord-cutting has led to dwindling cable revenues and sent the regional sports network model into a death spiral, which is chilling considering 23% of MLB’s $10.9 billion in revenue came from local media rights in 2022, by far the most of any major U.S. professional sports league, according to Sportico. The path forward remains murkier than ever.

    It would not surprise me in the least if an unwritten part of the deal is Ohtani had to marry a girl, ie. a marriage of convenience. Like Rock Hudson's marriage to his agent's secretary Phyllis Gates. Dodgers must be hyper sensitive to image issues after the Bauer incident.
