  2. King's question is who would you keep going forward. Stroman is the easy answer. He has the upside to significantly improve on 2016 and likely will. He's also more durable IMO. Sanchez' 2016 is close to what we can expect from him at his peak. He had some health concerns last season, kept tightly under wraps, but TJS is likely in his future. Given Sanchez' 2016 he will return a significant haul, more than Stroman would, and at the same time Stroman is a good choice to have better career. Easy answer. Also, dumb question.
  3. If this is true, it can only mean one thing... the Jays are embarking on a rebuild. Bruce is just a stopgap that might put bums in the seats cuz home runs! I have no problem with a couple of years of mediocrity while the rebuild happens. Only reason the Jays were contenders the last few years is the big three EE, JD, and JB were all seriously underpaid.
  4. Holding the OP to account
  5. C'mon NJH, it's not enough to simply say.... the Jays should target this guy or that guy. One could make a similar post about dozens upon dozens of MLB'ers.
  6. Who would you give up for him?
  7. Very risky, can he get by on talent alone if he doesn't care enough to put the work in? Risk - reward decision. What are you willing to give up for him, NJH?
  8. alford could bust like domonic stroman for eaton in a millisecond
  9. The probability is low the Jays will be the winning bidder competing against all other MLB teams for JD's services. But I'm not going to be you and say it won't happen. Shatkins has already said moving from a small market team like Cleveland to a large market like Toronto changes his calculus. It's too early for you to be so definitive that JD will not be re-signed long term by the Jays.
  10. No way we re-sign JD? Why will that not happen? We will see about Tulo.... possible he hits 5 WAR in 2017, equally possible he gives < 2 WAR
  11. I haven't advocated re-signing JD. Simply pointing out that if EE is signed multi year there is no way JD gets signed. Like everything else, re-signing JD is a business decision to be made at the time. Highly unlikely Tulo has a 5 win season in him... he will most likely range from 2 to 3 war over the remainder of the contract, maybe dipping below 2 in the last few.
  12. Moving Tulo last offseason was the move they should have made, said it 50x
  13. they can make a deal with JD if they don't sign EE long term
  14. 2020 Martin, 2019
  15. depends has he been durable is he still producing is there room in the budget what other options are there but if EE is signed multi year it is highly unlikely Jays have the budget room for JD
  16. thats true, he will be getting a significant raise after next season before becoming a free agent, no way the Jays allocate $100M+ to 4 players
  17. 4 or 5 years to EE at $20M+ a year likely means bye bye JD edit: after 2017, that is
  18. It is verboten to mention Thor in these parts.
  19. King has taken the lead for poster of the year. Despite the Todd pseudonym.
  20. Now we get to find out who is #1
  21. Can't help but feel Urena is the MIF version of Pompey. Good, but not quite good enough, with brain farts in the field.
  22. Happ will still have plenty of value at the deadline if moving him makes sense at the time
  23. this is awesome.... way better than anything from BA
