  1. Yes, no point risking injury to Pillar
  2. Latos should go down and pitch out of the bullpen, see if he can get it up to 94 mph in short bursts
  3. time to give josh towers a call
  4. His injury history includes a shoulder injury and surgery to remove bone chips in his elbow, among other things
  5. pretty much all of them.... they don't even have to need a 3B, they can swap 3B and the other team can add prospects to pay for the upgrade
  6. He has 5 XBH and .970 OPS at 21 yrs old in A+ with very good catching skills. What's not to like?
  7. No one has suggested making trades now. Make calls ie. "What would it take to get Martes and Tucker?" though.
  8. sounds a lot like the 1995-2010 annual plan can't win WS without a good number of cost controlled players
  9. Not sure what you are asking. Young players sign long contracts for financial security in the event injuries derail their career. If you are saying why would they sign knowing the Jays are not going to be very good through the prime of their careers, i agree with that. If I was in their shoes, I would hope to be moved to a team like Pitt. And Pitt could use a rotation upgrade, and they have a loaded farm.
  10. Got to test the waters of a Stro or Sanchez extension. If those guys are reluctant and hate the idea of going thru a 4-5 yr rebuild, should be moved. Either of them returns more than JD, IMO
  11. thats what i meant, a taste so they know what 2018 will bring
  12. yes around the time short season ball gets underway i can see Vlad and Bo getting a taste of AA before season's end
  13. Depends, my objective is to be consistently good, year in and year out, and every so often when things go right and the team stays healthy, a WS is in reach. Managing a team for short windows of contention every 10-15 years is less likely to get the prize. The way to be consistently good is by having a continuing pipeline of prospects hitting the majors. Shatkins has put together a strong player development system. Who cares if Pearce is signed for 2 and Morales for 3, they are just filler while the rebuild takes place.
  14. Personally I thought the FO did the minimum they had to do in the offseason. They weren't 'going for it'. And it was the right move, this old team was on its last legs last year.
  15. Remember Vlad for Cutch, ugh
  16. he's a s*** manager, period
