  1. Alford now 3-4 tonight. Batting .500, .600 OBP after ten games. Danny Jansen also 3-4, now batting .444...... could see this guy take over for Martin. Defense is reportedly good.
  2. Alford 2-2 so far, double, single, and SB
  3. You sign a guy like Donaldson to get you over the hump when the club is already good with several cost controlled good regulars. Signing Donaldson and then trying to build a contender around him is absurb. He alone is going to take a big juicy bite out of payroll. Unless there are a number of prospects that will be ready early in the Donaldson extension, it is an absurd idea to 'build around him'.
  4. So.... a contending window built around Donaldson? I hate the idea of 'building around X player'. Isn't the better approach to build a strong farm system and have 1 or 2 players ready for MLB each year? With that approach there is no window, no building around a player or players, just a sustainable good team that every now and then will be strong contenders or win the WS.
  5. I don't know. By the time there are enough good supplementary pieces Donaldson might be s***. Would be like having a Trout on a s*** team.
  6. he started slow into AA too
  7. No, not a terrible team. My assessment at the beginning was this team is a lot like the .500 teams of 1995-2012. Too many holes - everything would have to go right to win. This is why I had the lowest win total prediction - 82. Give them a month, but don't wait much longer if rebuild is the decision, the deals to unload this team will take time to put together.
  8. This is true and they waited too long to move Bautista / Tulo. Pitching carried the team to the postseason last year. Without JB or Tulo, they still make it or come close, but more importantly are better set up for future success. Now, they will get virtually nada in return for those players.
  9. Jays can take Wright off their hands.
  10. oops.... thinking of some other player but got to go..... kid has horseback riding
  11. You flip the third basemen and pay for the Donaldson upgrade with prospects.
  12. don't agree with the last bit. Kris Bryant
  13. Not a Boston move? They got rid of deadwood contracts just a few years ago, to LA. Getting rid of Sandoval sets them up to extend Mookie long term.
  14. Taking Panda off the Red Sox's hand counts for something? It would count for a LOT
  15. Indians, Astros (Bregman and others coming to TO), Giants, Red Sox I am sure others would have interest in an MVP calibre 3B It would be great to take Panda off the Red Sox hands and get more of their prospects as compensation Too bad Pittsburg doesn't need a 3B, they have a loaded farm edit - Red Sox farm suxxx, so Donaldson for Panda, Benintendi, and Groome
  16. Biagini is a reliever, so no. Pillar is getting old, so no. Osuna's arm isn't very durable, so no. Stro and Sanchize, maybe, but for the right offer, ciao.
  17. If the team still suxxx by end of May the Donaldson bidding war starts. Needs to be at least 2 top 100 prospects coming to the Jays, preferably guys at Vlad's level. Everyone on the current squad would be available. The rebuild centres around Vlad's ETA and the next few years beyond
  18. Seems like the window is closing.... 3-4 lean years coming up
  19. He should be rehabbing properly at Dunedin extended ST
  20. I always thought Morales and Pearce and the rest were just filler, while the rebuild takes place
