    Whatever the adjustment was, whether its Jansen or McGuire, Jays have a ML starting catcher in the pipeline. With the other a more than capable backup. Need a couple of prospect pitchers to elevate their game (or trade for them) and Jays are looking like a great young team by 2020 if not earlier.

    A decision on JD is not made in isolation. Jays are paying Martin and Tulo for a while yet, sign JD long term for $30M a year and one of Stro or Sanchez may no longer be affordable. There are numerous considerations / influences on the JD decision, what kind of offers they get from other teams, and yes, that a guy named Vladdy may be ML ready in late 2018, for $500,000 a year.

    It will influence what the FO is willing to pay for JD's services, at least. If you don't understand that, you don't understand how business decisions are made. And these are business decisions, not baseball decisions.

    Sometimes, difficult decisions need to be made. Agree with exploring both options.

    Depending on the defensive improvements Vlad is making at 3B, it would be poor asset management to have both Vlad and JD on the same team. Have been saying this for several months now Dave Cameron and Dinger agree with me. JD for controllable pitching makes too much sense.

    I wouldn't move a potential superstar like Vladdy unless he agrees or asks to be moved. He's worked hard for 2-3 years at 3B.
