Any team can be competitive the next year. Realistically, for the Jays, chances are quite slim for 2018. Too many holes, too many aging players, limited farm help ATM.
is there a trade deadline, or can trades be made throughout the year?
Kintzler is available for anyone looking for a saves guy.... looking for youth or prospect.... can include Calhoun for a 'spect upgrade
That's one school of thought that I don't subscribe to. ML front offices are smart enough to know 2018 JD will be closer to 2016 JD, and that 2017 is not the real JD.
The only real question is whether to move JD now or not. He's the only player that makes sense (at least to some) to move now and get a nice return. Other players it makes sense to move such as Pillar, ain't gonna fetch much.
Prospect and pick moves:
To Jimcanuck : Keibert Ruiz and Cyborg 2018 1st rounder
To Cyborg : Brendan McKay and JimC 2018 2nd rounder
I cannot contain my excitement at getting Ruiz.
He has more value now.
Truth is, the competition is getting better while the Jays are treading water for the next few years.
I appreciate your optimism though.
it pays to pay attention to the MLB Roster Changes listing..... never know when a breakout prospect gets an emergency callup
its how i picked up Zach Granite
