  1. Strider when he is on is right up there
  2. Williams over Cobb, easily
  3. Isn't the true question driving these decisions, who would the casuals rather see in the lineup card, to use one example - Springer or Barger?
  4. On the other hand Schultz might be no. 1 pitching prospect atm. If my team is not a contender for sure I am entertaining Trout for Schultz, but can get more than Schultz.
  5. Sign me up!
  6. Starlyn Caba has an uncanny resemblance to Wander Franco. Same height too..... hmmmm
  7. Just looking at the schedule, Dodgers being on the west coast seem to play far more games in daylight compared to the Jays. Biggio splits over the last 4 years show he is noticeably better in open ballparks, and during the day. Based on the historical data for Biggio, moving from the dome / predominantly at night to an open ballpark / often during daylight = +20 boost to wRC+, minimum
  8. Yeah, but Lux is sporting a 68 wRC+ with s***** D. Biggio 88 wRC+ and probably better D.
  9. If the Jays don't show noticeable improvement before the deadline, hard to see them staying above the threshold = offloading a contract or two.
  10. Was wondering if Biggio was moved in part to get under the CBT threshold, but the Jays are comfortably below atm edit - actually that's wrong. forecast luxury tax payroll per FG is $246,991,068. Threshold is $237M. So $10M over.
  11. Biggio is gone mainly because of his cost (performance, less so), and the Jays having cheaper options. It's that simple.
  12. Olerud will not like you saying his comp is dumb.
  13. Dude Belly was 10th in NL MVP voting last year. That's steak.
  14. Bellinger trough is pretty conclusively injury related. Vlad doesn't have that excuse.
  15. Shitload of luck in the draft. Arms break, players get concussions, can't handle MLB fastball, etc. Thing is, if a team lucks out and a couple of later round guys turn into stars, bingo its a contender. These guys are making little more than educated guesses during drafts. It's the development part where a team can really make a difference. Lately the Jays are poor in that area.
  16. Joe Musgrove 16.8 WAR, not 0.6. Also too early to do this assessment. The aforementioned Musgrove wasn't a good MLB pitcher until 7 yrs after being drafted.
  17. Bellinger must follow his former #1 fan. SB the day after you post this.
  18. Gotta keep the gambling revenues in house
  19. I don't put much stock in anything Nightengale posts. Doubt that's how it will be framed.
  20. Yes the talent may have been thin, but that was probably true of all the leagues at the time. A lot of these guys were farmers when not playing ball.
  21. It would be the right thing to do? The records would still be separated as Negro, AL, NL. Studies of the performance of Negro League players who joined MLB at the time of integration indicate they were of comparable quality. The historical perception of the Negro League as inferior is probably wrong.
  22. true, its hard to say, i think the command guys will still induce swings outside the zone, the guys will no command much less so. overall impact in favour of the command guys
