Supposed to be most valuable player to the team.... without looking at the numbers, I see Witt as more critical to KC success than Judge to NYY If KC fall out of WC3 race, Judge wins. Witt has also been a terror to my fantasy teams.

The Dodgers, the Rays, the Padres, and a few others seem to have that steady pipeline. We know why in the case of the Rays. The others, better development personnel / program?

Depends on how good they are. If you got a Gunnar and an Adley, not too many more. If they are all average or below, you need quite a few along with top end guys like Soto / Skenes. Lots of ways to construct a winning formula, but a main ingredient is a good group of cost controlled players. Through bad luck or incompetence, the Jays player development has failed. Time to start over again.

Actually the sure route to contention is to develop or acquire several cost controlled contributors and augment with FA signs. If you don't have the former, contention is really really hard. Gotta be lucky like semien and Ray that one year

Witt Jr. has an unsustainable .380 BABIP on the year. Projections have him at a BABIP .324 or so. So 1-2 WAR from luck. Elly De La Cruz has 5.1 WAR so far in his age 22 season, will likely end up with 7+ WAR. Witt Jr had 2.4 WAR in his age 22 season. Witt Jr may not even be the best SS of his generation.

Yep and there is a slim probability the Jays are contenders in 2025 They will "rebuild" while maintaining enough hope to sell tickets to casuals

That feels like their version of a fine dessert at the end of a meal that gives you food poisoning. It’s a nice moment, but it doesn’t erase the memory of what else happened before. Toronto has one more year before Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette hit free agency. So far, they have won zero playoff games with this group. Still, getting Jake Bloss and Joey Loperfido (as well as Will Wagner) for pending free agent Yusei Kikuchi is an excellent return. Landing rising Pirates prospect Charles McAdoo was a nice piece of business as well.

Bregman on a 1/30 deal would be great, promise to move him to a contender at the deadline if the Jays are out of it

Here's what will happen with the Toronto Blue Jays baseball business. Sign a bunch of guys to 1 yr contracts. Market Vlad, Gausman, Bo, Bassitt to the casuals. Put casual bums in the seats. Trade all the expiring contracts and pending FA that haven't resigned at the deadline.
