  1. Ya so trade Morales and $6M to KC for some low level prospect and/or IFA money
  2. There are a lot of options, and many things can happen between now and next April. Jays make a trade, someone gets hurt, dead, jailed, whatever. Maybe a few guys like Travis and Morales get DFA'ed solely to make room for potential rule 5 losses.
  3. Interesting query on Dongenhagen today. Pitchers recovering from TJS should hit in the lower levels while in recovery. Particularly useful for the NL.
  4. Bobby Mattick is in the Cdn Baseball HOF and the Dunedin complex is the Bobby Mattick Training Centre. He is a guy held in high esteem by knowledgeable baseball people. He was asked to keep managing but stepped down, was getting too old. Not his fault he was manager in the club's early years.
  5. Dude I plan to be around in 20 years and remember the best Blue Jays manager ever, Bobby Cox, and the 2nd best, Bobby Mattick.

Agree with this. 10 minute sudden death overtime, first 5 minutes 4 on 4, 2nd 5 minutes 3 on 3

Nah, 1 point for the tie in regulation, team that wins the game in extra time or shootout gets the W and extra point probably decided to do it this way to increase the possibilities / excitement level during a playoff race
  8. David Wright activated for a final game Saturday

Jays and Sens. Feel for you, man.
  10. They are 4th by run differential, just behind the Yanks, and with JD heating up, Cleveland should be seeded 3rd behind Rox and Stros.
  11. They are going to be good for a long time.

plenty of charts here https://hockey-graphs.com/2017/03/23/a-new-look-at-aging-curves-for-nhl-skaters-part-1/ rate of decline depends on methodology, but shows for d-men performance somewhat plateau'ed then around age 28 a noticeable downward slide clutch and grab era the decline was probably later and more gradual
  13. God forbid we ever have a French Canadian on the Jays.

that's not correct, performance curves show decline starting at 28 for d-men Reilly is in his prime

Spanky, the decline for a d-man starts roughly at 28 years old Signing Gardiner, a defenseman that relies on speed more than physicality, to a multi year as he enters his age 29 season is to be avoided if possible. I would be very surprised if Dubas signs him given the cap crunch the Leafs will be in.

Reilly is better. "Morgan Rielly had his best season in the NHL this past season. In 76 games, he registered 6 goals, 46 assists and 25 PPP. He was among the best defenseman in the NHL this season, being one of only three players (along with Doughty and Hedman) to play against top competition while scoring 50 points and putting up a positive corsi."

Dubas too smart to sign a mistake prone d-man in his decline years to a multi year
  18. Trades can be made on Monday?
  19. Yuli has 2 taters tonight also!

They either trade him during the season or let him walk. No way he gets retained, not with Liljegren likely ready next year.

Hope they finally move that one dimensional Willie for a D-man. They've got Marner, Kapanen, Brown on the right side.
  22. Are AA and Shatkins on speaking terms? Would be nice to pick up 1 or 2 of Atlanta's surplus pitching
  23. Ouch that was ugly, Rowdy
