  1. If Robert is available, Jays won't get him without Nimmala being in the deal. By that I mean another team will beat the Jays offer.
  2. Alonso's ego sure took a beating
  3. If its that bad and Baseball America is wrong, then he should stay in the minors to work on his defense. He's too young to relegate to a DH only. Don't forget he missed a lot of time from the suspension. He would have been rusty coming back.
  4. He is a fringe-average runner with limited range in the field. He split time between second base and third base in 2024 and is a fringe-average defender at both. Martinez has an above-average arm but an unusual release. BA has him 45 field, 55 arm. Average'ish. But my point is that bringing up Orelvis to be a DH would lower his defensive ability. Gotta keep playing to keep up the footwork, reactions, throws, etc.
  5. If the kid comes up he's not going to be wasted at DH
  6. Might be too late. Haven't they acquiesced?
  7. Well if Boras was holding off on getting Alonso and Bregman signed until they both had deals, the Bregman announce is imminent. Might be up late tonight
  8. Hmm and it's been reported the Cards and Bosox are talking Arenado Bregman to Yankees, Blue Jays, or ...
  9. Prospect draft time in fantasy. You should join.
  10. Sign but hold off on announcing. A signing can simply be an email "I accept"
  11. The club will sign him to an extension if the financial terms are agreeable. The Jays are in on everyone. I don't see why that would change.
  12. This is gonna be the beginning of the end of the Roger's media empire
  13. I just read 27 posts of arguing, but it's unclear to me what the argument is about. Is it an argument for arguments sake?
  14. Yes but theres a small caveat. $450 to $500 million
  15. Every pending free agent says this though
  16. I'm hearing that numerous MLB players have asked to be traded to Toronto.
  17. Fair point. The cynicist in me says Bo could have been trying to convince Sasaki to come here because the Jays going deep in the playoffs and Bo playing well means $$$
  18. Depends on the team and the return Let's say the Jays sign Bregman, and Orelvis is crushing AAA while playing an average 2B Bo, who is leaving at the end of the season, is playing well. Trade him to fill team needs and run with a Vlad, Orelvis, Gimenez, and Bregman infield There are scenarios where trading Bo at the deadline will improve the team
  19. Verdugo has had tattoo injuries the last few years and that has impacted his play. If he would just stop getting pricked he might improve.
  20. Ya only Scherzer knows. I am sure he was prepared to walk away if there was no offer to his liking. Quite a few players announce retirement just before or during spring training for this reason. For example Josh Donaldson on March 4, 2024.
  21. What if the best offer he got was a minor league contract? What if his best offer was $8M? Every player in their later years weighs offers against retirement. There comes a point where they say f*** it.
  22. The trainer gonna be busy! Gotta wonder if this is the trigger Bregman or Alonso need
