    Biggio should be back before Springer and can play OF. When Springer and Biggio are back I don't see how Davis sees much if any PT. Tellez > Panik at the plate, regardless of 2021 small sample. Panik is a 90 wRC+ bat, Tellez at least 100 wRC+

    And yet, they did come to an agreement that allowed games in 2020. A lockout or whatever may happen, yes, as stupid as it would be.

    Expecting Davis to be sent down when Springer back. Espinal down when Biggio returns, although I wish it was a Panik DFA instead. Tellez has earned a roster spot.

    I'm expecting by mid July the number of new cases Canada wide will be < 100 a day. And the US not much more than that. The border will reopen when the time is right. If the Tories were in power, they would be doing roughly the same thing. The border is bilateral also. It may not be the Cdn government that holds up the border opening.

    First time I benched him this year, depends on how the H2H numbers look week to week, remaining starts, etc.

    Not really. I have Glasnow, Gausman, and Fried pitching on the weekend and expect those will be sufficient to win most cats, and lower risk compared to Yarbrough. But missed what might be his best game of the year, oh well.

    I'd rather do the 7/8 year deal, long enough to capture most of the prime years, and not so long that it does not become immovable if it is in the Jays best interests to move him.

    Last I read no timetable for his return. They want him to be able to do everything needed in the field and at the plate without issue. End of June would be my guess.

    I would sign Semien to 3/60 right now. He would decline though.

    I'm not advocating trading Teoscar. All I am saying is you can't look at Teoscar in isolation from team context. Not everyone can be signed/extended at free agent market rate. Given his age, performance history, BABIP fueled outbreak, the fact he plays a position relatively easy to fill, etc.... signing Teoscar long term is probably down the list in terms of team priorities. And being traded instead is a very real possibility.

    It's possible Teoscar averages 4 WAR/yr for the next 5 years. It's a very unlikely outcome though. He's got a .348 BABIP in 2020, and rocking a .375 BABIP so far in 2021. Those numbers will regress. Extension decisions cannot be made on an individual player basis. Shatkins has an idea of the max budget Rogers will allocate to player salaries. Just like any organization, need to look at the entire team and project values for each player going forward, using aging curves, etc. We all know the Jays have a bunch of elite young players that will be elite for much longer than Teoscar. Those players are the priorities for signing long term. And I am sure the Jays have allocated a hefty amount for FA signings, particularly for pitching. Where Teoscar fits in the team budget calculus, who knows. But I suspect there is a good probabiity he is traded / not extended. In fact, trading Teo after this season would be a classic sell high move.
