  1. Yes, Moreno > Kirk in terms of value at this point
  2. 2nd hit is a double
  3. What were the umps doing there, checking for sticky?
  4. The closest parallel to today would be Griffey Jr and shortly after A-Rod and some others including Delgado
  5. I can't remember a time when so many young players came up and were almost immediate superstars. I also think this is going to continue, because technology has shortened the learning curve for these elite talents.
  6. A little tidbit from Baseball America: It's useful to note that before Franco, the hitting prospect with some similar attributes (hit over power, high average, high contact rate but a flatter swing plane) was Vladimir Guerrero Jr. This year, Guerrero is hitting .412/.444/1.176 against fastballs in the top third of the zone, which has played a significant role in his breakout season.
  7. Mandatory 1 game suspension for manager if pitcher intentionally throws at batter
  8. 5 games seems awfully steep but does it mean he misses 5 starts, or 1 turn in the rotation? In April Tepera got 3 games for throwing at a batter, but he's a reliever
  9. Semien has a .350 OBP and has more speed. Right now, Semien is the right player for leadoff. Maybe in a few weeks if Semien cools off and Springer is doing his .360 OBP thing, a switch is made.
  10. My eyes welled up elevating him in BBDL and BORED.
  11. Sports injuries mostly bad luck and a player's risk threshold. Some guys will take significant risks to make a play, others will not attempt. Sundin was a NHL ironman for a reason. No chicken Swede jokes please, this is a respectable discussion board. Buxton has had bad luck, and also plays the game with a somewhat reckless abandon, hence the injuries. Maybe also has lower bone density and/or a tighter wound connective tissue (ligaments, tendons, cartilage), but even if this is true, it would be a lesser contributor then the luck and reckless contribution.
  12. Welcome back to Team Spooge, Michael Taylor. f*** me.
  13. Myles Straw or Manuel Margot available for a pick. One or the other needs to be gone before 7 pm
  14. Well f*** Why is Buxton not wearing all the latest protective gear
  15. f***ed up but not a surprise. Religion has been used as cover for all kinds of f***ed up s***, for millenia
  16. Nothing wrong with the signing in a vacuum. It's just, if the Jays are looking to contend for a playoff berth, it's rather underwhelming. Maybe there is more to come.
  17. Kevin Smith has a chance to be like Jon Berti IMO. Above average speed and defence, mediocre bat (with a bit more power). A useful back end player.
