  1. Agreed, and MLB f***ed up in how they went about it.
  2. Enforced it historically? Like every 7 years someone gets a suspension, when 75% of the pitchers are breaking the rule. lmao
  3. The league did nothing wrong, gimme a break. The league knew about this for years and did nothing, effectively waiving the rule. Pitchers will act accordingly and did for years. Then in the space of a few months, they warn, and then start a mid season crackdown. Quite frankly, if there is a spate of pitcher injuries in the next while, the league may have a liability issue.
  4. For the record, no one is siding with Glasnow. And no one should side with the league either. There are problems with both sides.
  5. Will be interesting to see if pitcher injuries spike in the next while
  6. But an estimated 75% of pitchers were using some type of substance, it had been going on for years, and the league was aware. There was a better way to handle this then make a significant in season enforcement change.
  7. Safety thing is not a now claim. The below is from March 2021: “Pitchers have been using stuff for many, many years. At some point it’s a good thing because there are a lot of pitchers who go out there and sweat tremendously. You don’t want to see anyone get hurt,” said Washington Nationals Manager Dave Martinez, who indicated he hopes the sport can strike a balance between allowing pitchers to maintain grip without gaining too large an advantage over hitters. “I’m more about keeping guys healthy,” he added. “When you get a guy throwing a 100-mph fastball and can’t hold on to the baseball, that kind of gets scary for a hitter and everybody.” If experienced MLB people have been raising the safety issue, chances are its a real concern.
  8. No I understand that. But baseball was aware of what was going on, and didn't enforce the rule, and suddenly decides to in the middle of the season. Blame doesnt rest entirely with the players.
  9. Global news article from 8 hrs ago I just read says the US is not expected to lift border restrictions befor July 4. It's not necessarily Canada that is holding things up.
  10. Grichuk has no situational hitting ability. He only knows swing for the fences. Will always be a bottom of the order hitter.
  11. Who knows. Could be just coincidental timing, could be causal at least in part. My post was mainly to point out that the CBS reporting was missing important context to Glasnow's comments.
  12. Turns out that reporting is missing context. From MLBTR: “Do it in the offseason, give us a chance to adjust to it. But I just threw 80-something, 70-whatever innings, and then you just told me I can’t use anything in the middle of the year? I had to change everything I’d been doing the entire season. Everything, out of the window, I had to start doing something completely new." He has a point about making a change midseason increases the risk of injury, as it can f*** with a pitcher's mechanics.
  13. I was floored by that trade. Logan Gilbert, holy s***.
  14. Is today Super 2 threshold day?
  15. Yep, "safe" s*** pick
  16. Have been advocating that for Pearson for a few years now. Not clear he has the durability to be a conventional starter. Better to use him in that "middle ground" piggyback or bulk reliever role for now.
  17. Splendid Splinter best hitter all time.
  18. Icould be convinced to move OBP and potential HR beast Tyler Stephenson for a SS better than Andrelton Simmons. Tyler has 1B, C eligibility.
  19. It's not. Jansen hits the ball hard with bad BABIP luck also.
  20. Really, the Jays don't even need to be targetting MLB relievers. The best depth reliever on virtually every team's AAA roster is better than what the jays are trotting out there regularly in the 8th.
  21. Yes a few teams i'm thinking of dropping the catcher in favour of some interesting SP/RP reliever
  22. Latest News Jun 12, 6:40 PM EDT EDT Springer (quadriceps) could begin a rehab assignment as soon as Tuesday, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.
