  1. Not at all just doing my part to moderate the board. Now, f*** off!
  2. Oh yeah, understandably forgot about him. He was up to #7
  3. Alex Rios #6, same as Travis Snider. Halladay highest pitcher at #12
  4. Read the article. For it to happen in a baseball player, we just have to take into consideration what he puts himself through with hitting, swinging on a daily basis just to get prepared and then also playing in the outfield, diving for balls. Jumping into the wall, things like that. And there’s so many things that can aggravate it, but this doctor hasn’t seen a lot of it. So to minimize the risk of fielding related aggravations and IL stints, it might be prudent for him to DH only. Also, this is a forum for baseball discussion, not attacks on other posters.
  5. Possibly a DH for the rest of his career.
  6. Yes, a good lesson for the current cadre of mods
  7. mlb.com, then a short stay on ESPN until juiced created this site
  8. Merrill Kelly along with Keone Kela and Kyle Nelson from the d'backs would be ideal. Kela just started pitching again in MiLB.
  9. nah these posts called arenado / goldsmith stupid / idiots
  10. maybe you didnt see the posts that crossed the line
  11. haha, pretty apt
  12. It's a fine line, maybe gets too heavy sometimes. Remember the mods are doing this for free. Do a good job when you compare to other sites.
  13. It's a non-story, this type of s***, abhorrent as it is, is very common. The Bichette family will deal with it as they will.
  14. The bigger question is why did he have a .197 BABIP in A+ and now a .216 BABIP in AA. Are there numbers somewhere that might explain?
  15. Experiencing physical and/or sexual abuse at the hands of an adult before the age of 15 was reported by 30% of Canadians aged 15 and over. Physical abuse was the most common form of child maltreatment, reported by about one-quarter (26%) of Canadians. Meanwhile, childhood sexual abuse was reported by 8% of people in Canada aged 15 and over. A smaller proportion (5%) said that they had been subjected to both physical and sexual abuse during childhood. https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/daily-quotidien/170216/dq170216b-eng.htm A study in Ontario found that 31 per cent of males and 21 per cent of females experienced physical abuse during childhood. https://www.redcross.ca/how-we-help/violence-bullying-and-abuse-prevention/educators/child-abuse-and-neglect-prevention/facts-on-child-abuse-and-neglect This paper discusses the underreporting problem in detail - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK195982/ 19 percent were physically abused https://www.apa.org/monitor/2008/11/maltreatment Your first post on the matter said 1 in 7, which is not what your source says "At least 1 in 7 children have experienced child abuse or neglect in the past year in the United States." As I said the actual number is impossible to determine, but it is at least 15% and based on the information above, likely in the range of 20 to 30%. Unfortunately, in the USA the stats all relate to reported cases of maltreatment, I can't find anything that estimates the unreported cases. A good number of MLB players are from dominican, mexico, venezuela - the rate of physical abuse in those countries is estimated to be over 40%.
  16. Not arbitrary, consistent with numbers reported by gov't statisticians. There's not way to get an accurate number, anyway. Only a small percentage of physical abuse of kids is detected. The number can only be estimated. After the fact surveys of adults is likely most accurate, and yet very imprecise.
  17. Verdugo a lazy bugger, that's f'ing slow out of the box. Anyone else notice the 1B coach holding a stopwatch? lol
  18. Somewhere between Maikel Franco and Rafael Devers
  19. There is a wide range, per my original post ("+ / -"). Depends on how physical abuse is defined, there is no accepted definition.
  20. Which is why I put out the number, Bo is just one of many. No point in focussing on one individual/family.
  21. Poor vetting by the Jays to hire him in the first place. Some 25% (varies +/- depending on definition) of MLB players would have been subject to physical abuse.
  22. Since June 1, Tapia has the 6th highest wRC+, at 146. He's turning into a Lofton. Hell, I'm gonna go drop Belly for him in the DDL.
