You can't expect any GM to make a trade like that one every 5 years. AA has made some other decent trades. He struggled when it came time to start winning. However, the Lawrie, Rasmus, Morrow and Escobar trades weren't too shabby. Re-signing EE after Billy Beane let him go for nothing is a decent move as well. You would think they had completely given up on him after letting him go, but they obviously saw something there to get him back and stop playing him at 3B.
I imagine some would be ridiculing him had it been Beane who brought him back and reaped the rewards.
This is not to say that AA is a great GM, or a good one for that matter. Just pointing out that he has done some decent things.
