  1. lol. This is what I found so amusing about the Arencibia thread, the guy managed to get posters here to love Zaun. He also compared Arencibia to Piazza.
  2. They didn't want to wait out the 5 year plan, that's the bottom line. They decided that by the time all these young players reached the majors and went took their lumps, it would be too long to wait. Anyway...
  3. I love the TB model, but it's apples and oranges to me when you consider that TB has no pressure to win and homophobia is not frowned upon in TB the way it is in a city like Toronto. AA got Escobar afterall, his being given away was based on public relations. I would've preferred that they kept him even if they still got Reyes from the Marlins. Anyway...
  4. Escobar was a public relations giveaway, no doubt in my mind. People in the media were calling for his release after the incident.
  5. This happens when a gm thinks he's identified the "final piece" to his puzzle.
  6. I'd rather get the Cuban guy. He's young and would only cost money. I really don't see the point of giving up prospects for Garza with Dickey getting bombarded again.
  7. I agree. Maybe he's done as a major leaguer, but he needs to play more and it's not like the Jays have a great #1 catcher.
  8. Would've helped if Reyes hadn't made another base running blunder. He's had a few.
  9. Izturis has been finally finding holes lately, but even yesteray, he should've had 2 hits, but hit one off the pitcher right to the SS who threw him out.
  10. I wish Gibbons had gotten the memo before Wednesday's game against the Tigers.
  11. It's sad that the 2 old men in the rotation are the most reliable.
  12. Reyes has had a few baserunning blunders in the little time he's played this year.
  13. Yeah man. Longest he went I think was 2 or 3 innings.
  14. Of course not. I asked because the poster seemed surprised he was optioned.
  15. You think he should start tomorrow's game?
  16. Happ and Romero were the 5th and 6th starters and Morrow has always been a question mark. If they were counting on Jenkins and Deck for anything they're right were they deserve to be in terms of pitching. The decision was made to have Stroman start, I would think they would want to give him a full season to be able to decide if he'll be ok starting. The issue is that the top 4 in the rotation have not performed to expectations and unless this turns around on a consistent basis, I don't see the point of overpaying AGAIN in prospects and $. I'd rather they just spend the money on the Cuban pitcher.
  17. They can't pitch consistently and unless they start to, they will not win consistently as the offense is just not good enough to overcome bad pitching. Perfect example is the Yankees, they're not very good on offense, but they can pitch.
  18. I flat out hate it when a team I follow is desperate to address a weakness that it had supposedly ALREADY addressed in the preceding offseason by spending a huge amount of $ and prospects. Just roll with what you invested so much in. I'd rather address the catching position.
