  1. Wouldn't surprise me if the Rays traded Moore and got a haul.
  2. It wasn't that far ago that this team was rebuilding and they decided they couldn't wait. All it took for them to give up the rebuilding process was one bad season, 2012, where they had injury and performance setbacks. They probably knew they would go into 2013 expected to lose 90+ games and instead of accepting to take a step back to take 2 forward in 2014 and beyond, they went into desperation mode. AA was described in the 2012 off season as "itching to make a trade". It's just not clear to me that this franchise has the patience to go through a full rebuild. We'll see what happens.
  3. What? Pitch one was a cutter, borderline high strike/ball, it was called a ball. Pitches 2 and 3 were called strikes. Pitch 4 was hit foul. Pitch 5 was low and away, not far from the strike zone, but it was a ball. Pitch six was hit for a ground out. All this according to pitch f/x. Same with my complaints about the strikes called on Cabrera and Navarro. Not saying they lost the game because of these calls, but bad umping bothers me period.
  4. That freaking strike called on Cabrera was a joke, same for strike 2 on Navarro in the 8th. Anyway...
  5. You're right, the president is the key. To this day, I don't think we see the change of direction if a good president was in charge, even if the GM wanted to. I think a good president would've easily said, "wait a minute here, this goes against the plan we set out for the franchise, can't do it unless you're getting a big discount in both prospects and $$$". Sadly, they only got $8M and I actually think getting rid of Escobar's team-friendly contract was part of the equation.
  6. Agreed, it's so annoying. I already watch the games on mute, but I may have to watch them with my eyes closed as well.
  7. Well said, especially the part about the half-ass approach. I do wonder what impact Nadir Mohamed's retirement may have had. I mean, he's the one who approved the payroll increase so who knows what they discussed going forward. Who knows, maybe Mohamed wanted to go out on top or something.
  8. I can agree with this, but of course, the new president would reserve the right to hire a new GM if he so decided.
  9. Tough outing from Hutchison, but you've gotta live with it and hope he learns from them. He was wild from the beginning, sometimes out of the strike zone for walks and a few times over the middle of the plate. Let's not forget he was a bit wild against the rays as well in his first start. Offense once again failed to score more than 4 runs although they have faced some tough pitchers. I thought the ump screwed the blue jays on called strike 2 to both Navarro in the 8th and Cabrera in the 9th. Cabrera still hit the ball well and arguably should've hit it out, but he was on the defensive trying to battle.
  10. Zaun's gonna be pissed at Gibby for sitting his boy Lind against a LHP.
  11. Gibby made this mistake last year when Lind started hitting lhp well, but then went down the drains. I wouldn't have complained too much if Lind was in the lineup today, but I'm fine with giving the bench some at-bats.
  12. So we're discussing today's game on yesterday's game thread because some virgin teenager played video games till 4 a.m. and got himself grounded? Alright, I guess it's early.
  13. This hints at them recognizing Kratz defensive abilities, at least vis-a-vis Navarro.
  14. Why couldn't he wait till today to suck? I'm sure he'll throw a gem today.
  15. Yeah, gotta give players a day off and with a lefty on the mount, perfect time to give Rasmus an off day. I'm sure he'll play later on in the game if the game is tied or the Jays are leading.
  16. Was it me or was the umpire squeezing Blue Jays pitchers and hitters, especially Cecil against Jeter. No surprise I guess, I'm sure he's gonna get even more calls as a retirement gift from umps.
  17. Outfield "D" not a priority today for Biggy, not that he has much choice. Rasmus and Lind on the bench is nice.
  18. There was nothing wrong with that play yesterday, but apparently, Girardi was whining about it. This is gonna cause more issues than the replays. I don't know why they need to review this thing. The rule seems imperfect to say the least.
  19. For whatever it's worth, I think the team has made 3 errors so far, 2 by pitchers and 1 by Bautista. Rasmus already threw out 2 at the dish, last year I think he only had 1 OF assist, could be wrong though, it's been known to happen. Offense has struggled, but they've faced some really tough pitchers. On the other hand, that's part of what makes this division tough so they'll have to do better and I think they've missed some pitches and they can improve. A win today would be nice.
  20. I think the Cubs may not want to take on 2 albatross contracts and 2 prospects with big question marks. Plus, once word gets around that the Cubs are willing to trade Boni, other teams may blow that offer out of the water. If AA is serious about getting this guy, he'd better not get cute this time, just add Nay and Norris and get'er done.
  21. Jays need a 4th OF and speed off the bench, get him back in a package with Shark.
  22. Right, gives you options. Hey, maybe trade Bautista for a nice haul. Not saying you they should do it, but you never know what a GM might offer.
  23. When we see the blue jays hire better broadcasters and stop showing the crowd at games, we will know they're moving in the right direction as an org.
