That's what happens when a GM is afraid of his job and cares a lot more about the short term success over the future of the franchise. Doesnt help that Beeston clearly just cares about making the playoffs immediately before he retires so he can give himself another pat on the back.

No thats my only complaint agaisnt him. I love the dude and thought it was stupid to go out and get another number 1 goalie when they had very apparent needs elsewhere, I just dont think hes a top 5 and maybe borderline top 10. The G position right now is just really strong league wide imo -

They've been great, to bad the 3rd defensive line has been beyond horrible so far. We're gonna get kiled against the top offensive teams unless they improve.

Even then, just f***ing lay out the opposing team's best player when he has his head down..its so much more effective. Watching two guys who can barely skate go at it is pretty annoying IMO.

Congrats to FTD, built his team beautifully. Bunch of young players, stud prospects and enough vets to sneak into the playoffs, which gave him a chance to win. I went into the season trying to do the same thing and my team ended up as 1 giant cluster f*** of a mess.

Baseball seems to be the only sport when head coaches/managers actually respect the playoff hunt going on and keep in mind the game implications during the last week of the season. Yep this guy gets paid to write about baseball. He voted for Miggy because the Tigers make the playoffs, but then snuffs DOnaldson over Davis when god for bid the O's didnt make the playoffs.. Mike Moose put up a 1 war season making less than a million dollars..not sure how hes the least valuable when we had 4 starters this year all making more money than he did.

Yep the thing about FA is that overpaying for players on 3-4 year deals isnt necessarily a bad thing if you're able to operate with a large payroll, since you're basically adding free wins to your roster without giving up any assets. There's also always dumb GM's out there willing to give up assests for guys who just signed overpriced free agent contracts 1 year prior.
