He'll always be remembered for that game. Not just the 2 errors and not scooping Moreland's bad throw, but also 0-4 with a caught stealing and huge strikeout in the 8th inning. One of the worst performances ever in an elimination game.
Yeah, baseball is awesome.
I'm just glad the Martin mistake was inconsequential. It was the right call, but deciding a serie likexthatcwoukd have been awful.
I'm not sure why you think Cleveland would easily extend him. Cleveland the city sucks and they don't have a high payroll. It would most likely be 1 bargain year of Edwin for five bargain years of Carrasco. The framework doesn't work at all IMO.
I think Edwin can expect 4/80 at the absolute least. He'll be entering his age-34 season. V-Mart just got 4/68 entering his age-36 season with a worse track record.
All the same, consistently trading 6 years of cheap high end talent for 1 year of proven but expensive talent is method of team building that will prevent perpetual contention.
It definitely wasn't cut and dry and the time. Norris' numbers last year were absolutely silly in AA and AAA. Trading a borderline top-10 prospect for one year of anyone is a risky proposition. If you guess wrong, it could be franchise crippling.
