  1. The term 'egregious mistake' was a forum meme. The thread is tongue-in-cheek. Lighten up.
  2. They didn't even have enough cash to afford two months of Danny Valencia...
  3. That's for 2017. He's projected to go to 12 this year.
  4. What does the average team spend rounding out its 40-man over the course of the season, in excess of it's opening day 25-man roster? Isn't it like 10-20M?
  5. 9. Tells me you're living in a fantasy land. This would never happen.
  6. If they were a worse team, some of their blowout wins would have been close wins, and this would have somehow made them a better team in the playoffs? This isn't making a whole lot of sense.
  7. I don't think it's really possible to competently fill 35 roster spots on like $35M. Payroll would have to expand, or Edwin/Bautista would have to take less than market value. Either of which is obviously possible.
  8. Consistently win 8-1 instead of 3-1. Have fans complain that you suck in close games.
  9. This won't end well.
  10. What's the point of a post like this? Even if he did defend Gibby all year, good on him for actually being open-minded enough to criticize him or, god forbid, change his mind in the face of new evidence. The "haha, gotcha!" posts make this forum almost unreadable and should be bannable.
  11. Yeah, that's a painful casualty of the payroll cap this year.
  12. 2017: Tulo = 20 Donaldson = 20 (probably) Martin = 20 Bautista and Edwin are probably close to 20 each. You're talking $100M for 5 guys, with like $35M left for the rest of the 40-man. And the 50 guys will be old as s***.
  13. Would one of them waive to go to, say, St. Louis or something? I don't think it would be out of the question.
  14. Which of the two do you keep going forward if they command identical contracts? I'm kind of leaning towards Edwin. Two years younger, and despite a K/BB scare earlier this year his skills have remained completely intact, and his last 4 years have been as consistent as it gets. He feels like one of those hitters who's skill set ages well.
  15. The problem is that there's probably not room for both payroll-wise in 2017. It could definitely make sense to move one this offseason.
  16. It's ready to go, but I'm not posting it yet because I don't want to get permabanned.
  17. I don't really believe in 'putting a team over the top'. This team is good enough to win a WS. The question should be 'what is needed to get this team back in the playoffs for another kick at the can?'. IMO the answer is two reliable starting pitchers and prayers that the baseball gods continue not to hit the team's vets with attrition.
  18. I think Yost's pen management has been on point all series.
  19. Actually, if Toronto loses this series, it will be the poster child for the "great pitching and defense wins in the playoffs. Teams built on the longball don't succeed" crew.
  20. HOMERUNS ARE GOOD, BUT NOT IN THE PLAYOFFS cf
  21. I don't know what this means, but it sounds familiar for some reason.
  22. King and o2 should be blocked from responding to each other's posts.
