  1. Also Stroman missing almost the entire season.
  2. Cyborg, did you remember to remove Bird from Boxy's total?
  3. Shouldn't my st. DEV be through the roof if that were the case?
  4. Shillpiro dropping truth bombs: "Every team has a budget,” Shapiro began. “Every team has operating parameters. I don’t know why it’s not fashionable to just say the truth. David Price would’ve represented almost our entire offseason. It’s that simple, Jim. Almost no one would make that decision. … To me, it comes down to we had a very, very, very challenging pitching dilemma here in that we lost him, we lost [Marco] Estrada. We had zero Triple-A pitchers — not one, not a name to fill our rotation in Triple-A. We had to take the money, which was ample, and figure out how to both solve the Major League rotation, which was two spots in the rotation, along with solving a depth challenge. … Regardless of how great one pitcher is, you need to build a team around the guy, too.”
  5. Imagine if I didn't botch every pick after Trout.

I can't stop reading the HF Sens Phaneuf thread: "We don't need Phaneuf to put up points. I don't care about that, at all. We need a solid vet to mentor Ceci. If we can have him just stick to being a defensive defenseman and being solid in our own end....I'll be relatively satisfied. Not happy....but satisfied." That's like saying "we don't need Ryan Goins to play good D, but if he can hit 30 bombs and provide depth behind the top-5, I'll be relatively satisfied. Not happy....but satisfied."

It's just a weird trade. Unless I'm mistaken, the following are more or less all true: - One of Ottawa's biggest weakness had been puck possession, especially from their D. - Phaneuf's only real skill is generating offense on the power play. - The last thing Ottawa needs is a skilled D to QB their power play. - Ottawa is in a position where every dollar has to be maximized if they want to be successful. Given all of this, the trade only makes sense if the guys in charge of Ottawa think Dion Phaneuf will drive possession and provide significant value at even strength, even though the numbers are apparently pretty loud in saying that he won't.

Everyone keeps calling him a top-4 D. I have no idea whether that's true, but I tend to believe that Cyborg is right and they're all dumn.

Ottawa fans on HF are thrilled, even though they've been s***ing on Phaneuf for like 6 years. Holy f*** I hate hockey.

I'm so happy that I don't follow hockey anymore and this can't be outraged.

Phaneuf for all of Ottawa's garbage.
  12. Numbers and repertoire compare well, and Steamer thinks he's on that level.
  13. Nothing but garbage after pick #2.
  14. I hate that a good season for me in BORED likely means a good season for you in the LOD. I almost took deGrom too.
  15. I'm pretty excited to be part of the Maeda club. 28-year old Kuma/Kuroda.
  16. Did any 18-year old Mexicans reach AA last year?
  17. I hope not. The mistake there was a vesting option based on PA. There never should have been a policy against performance incentives on a 1-year deal. Those deals are low-risk high reward investments.
  18. I hadn't thought about this, but I'm really happy about it now that you mention it. The policy against incentives was f***ing stupid.
  19. Uh... even if this were still their poicy, they could have just went to arb lol
  20. More like last year of arb + 5-6 years of FA if he keeps up a 4+ win pace.
  21. Who missed the professional roto writeups in yahoo? I know I did. Advice: Tomas graded out very poorly in right field after shifting from third base last season. With Peralta the better defender of the two, it makes sense why they would want to move him to right field instead. Regardless of where he roams the outfield though, Tomas will be in the lineup because of his bat, which should provide ample fantasy goodness.
