  1. Wow, pulled after 7 no-hit innings at just 100 pitches. That's some stones.
  2. Chen has a no-no going through 6.
  3. Imagine if we had signed Bautista for 5/100 last April?
  4. I legit feel terrible for Pearce. He finally gets a chance to play everyday for a new team, and has completely s*** the bed.
  5. Man, we could really use Pearce.
  6. I don't think njh is in any danger of getting the short end of the stick in the Correa trade.
  7. Probably, but as Dinger points out, he could probably use a bit more seasoning in AAA. Hopefully this doesn't mess him up.
  8. Heyman reporting the Starling Marte got caught for PEDs. Nightmare season for TRM.
  9. Let the Austin Meadows era begin!
  10. Barnes is actually good, so he has that going for him relative to guys like Leon and Tepera.
  11. Also an option. What teams might find themselves in need of a shortstop? The Pirates maybe? Darkhorse: the A's. I dunno, I think we'd have to eat a lot of cash in either case, though they certainly have the prospect capital. Especially Pittsburgh.
  12. I enjoyed them last year when they had Miller, Betances, and Chapman in the pen. That was fun.
  13. I still don't think anyone would want to take on a 3/58 commitment after this season for what looks like a league-average player who will play all of next season at 33. What teams have the need and financial ability to throw that kind of money at average production? I don't see any.
  14. Never trust a guy with no chin.
  15. I don't think a single person on this forum mocked the idea of Thames. Pretty much everyone wanted him.
  16. Is it really necessary that any post about the lack of young above average talent on the MLB roster contain an asterisk stating that, as with all 30 clubs, the farm might yield some good players?
  17. He'll be up by the end of the month, whether it's to push Toles to 4th OF or replace A-Gon.
  18. Yeah. There's not much here to build around if we're talking 2018 and beyond. Donaldson at 30M per year, Travis (who might suck), Pillar (defense only CF), and three pitchers 3 years from free agency.
  19. It's not as simple as blaming someone for Bautista. It was the right move to bring him back for 1/18 or whatever. Neither AA nor Shapiro should have traded him. The problem is that, more generally, the entire core of the team are old guys on free agent contracts, and it's impossible to predict when these guys are going to hit a cliff.
  20. They're playing the hand they were dealt. I don't think anyone thought it was ideal to enter the season with a core of 30+ year old guys and no prospects close, but nobody would have been convinced that any of them, individually, was going to fall of a cliff in a given season. My point is that this team's eventual failure is going to happen because the core AA built around aged out with nothing in the system coming to replace them. If Martin, Tulo, Travis, and Bautista hang on another year the team should be alright. If they fall off a cliff... well, we're seeing what that looks like. I hate that Smoak, Goins, and Carrera are on the team, but no amount of peripheral additions is going to make up for a mid-30s core that's hitting free agency and/or seeing steep decline one after another.
  21. It's tough to blame Shapiro when Tulo, Bautista, Martin and Travis have sucked. That's AA's core. Hell, the AA guys he's let walk either haven't played (Price) or are stinking up the joint as badly as the guys still here (Edwin and Saunders).
  22. Walks in the tying run. Still none out.
  23. I wonder how long the Dodgers can wait on Cody Bellinger? He had a 195 wRC+ before today and went 2 for 3 with a walk and his 3rd homer. A-Gon has to hear the footsteps.
