Every move they've made this offseason has made me feel underwhelmed, and like I would not have done that, but also with no strong conviction that the move was objectively bad. I don't really understand what they're doing. Like, projections think Banda and Souza are only separated by half a win, if that. But I don't really buy that.

I like this, because the D'Backs must think pretty highly of Banda to give up 3 years of Souza for him ans Solak.

IMO there are still more intriguing options than that: - Oh on a cheap one year deal - Uehara ona cheap one year deal - Holland on a more expensive 1-year dal - Rosenthal for two years while he rehabs in 2018

I think it’s pretty clear that he didn’t really know who Castillo was, then tried to fabricate an argument and landed on ‘pitch sequencing’. Either way, he didn’t do nearly enough research, and embarrassed the site. They seem to miss Cameron

And on cue, FG has a Reds article today. Authored by the same guy who wrote that 'teams should spend irresponsibly because Arron Judge homers are awesome' article. He can be found in the comments arguing that Finnegan and Desclafani are better than Luis Castillo, which I guess he stated in the article before someone (probably Cistulli) edited it out. The decline of FG this offseason has been fascinating.

So... why isn't Hanley the short side of a 1B platoon with Moreland? He's bad, and his 22M 2019 option vests with 492 PA.

The Reds should be embarrassed about the offseason they've had. With Votto, Suarez, Hamilton, Duvall and Winker in-house, and Senzel kicking down the door, they actually have a lot of good positional players. They also have a developing ace in Castillo. An active offseason with some key additions could have pushed them up to an 80+ win projection, with a lot of room to beat that if their young talent pushes. Instead, they've sat out the offseason without adding a single player of consequence. Why didn't they match the Cozart contract? They're afraid of blocking Peraza and Gennett? We should be hearing about how interested they are in Cobb and Lynn to provide some stability in front of the volatility at the back (Garrett, Bailey, Finnegan, Mahle, Desclafani). That team doesn't have to be bad - with luck and breakouts they could actually be good.
