  1. Potent sperm isn’t enough. Men don’t have kids at that age unless they’re stupid rich or running a sex cult.
  2. It was informative though, because I had been under the impression that Carlos Danger was like 65 until he just mentioned he had a toddler.
  3. I like all of this except shortening the season.
  4. Has anyone else noticed that Spanky has been the forum's best poster in 2019?
  5. TB would immediately figure out how to position guys on the field to tank the UZR of arb-eligible players without hurting team performance.
  6. Grant please confirm.
  7. Alex Bregman is going to make close to half a billion dollars in his career. He's already closing in on his first 10M and hasn't hit arb yet.
  8. If you also got Aunt Jemima syrup you deserve a lengthy ban.
  9. You kinda remind me of Cosmo Kramer.
  10. Why would Stroman even post the pictures? He seems like a very stupid person.
  11. Waiver period is over. We're in full regular season mode now.
  12. You need to stop looking at OPS in a 75 PA sample, especially when the player had an 11/1 K/BB.
  13. Tellez walked twice and struck out 21 times, which is more informative than what happened to the ~50 balls he put in play.
  14. I'm pretty sure I've owned him in at least one league for like 5 years in a row.
  15. I'd be a lot less likely to financially support a team dumb enough to have Tellez, Biggio, and Bichette on the 25-man to start the season. I can't imagine how bad things would get later in the year when the guys who should have been depth are completely overmatched or start getting hurt or and we're watching a team of Ryan Goinses, Eric Sogards, and Jabari Blashes in June.
  16. Bichette has never played in AAA. Biggio has never played in AAA. Tellez is a DH with a wRC+ of 93 over 950 PA in AAA. McGuire was worse in AAA last year than Maile was in the majors, and will benefit more playing every day there than twice a week in the majors. It's insane to complain that these players aren't breaking camp with the Jays.
  17. How many Phillies fans enjoyed watching Scott Kingery play last year? It's fun to watch MLB debuts, but nobody is buying tickets to watch a bunch of prospects get completely overmatched at the major league level. Everyone's excited about Alford now, but when he has a wRC+ of 75 in mid-April nobody is going to be happy that the team punted Pillar to make room for a replacement level MLB player. Let these guys develop at AAA and kick the door down.
  18. I don't think anyone would really care if Morales was DFA'd. It's surprising that it hasn't happened already.
  19. Why not just keep Pillar until he can't defend CF anymore? Guys like him have no trade value, and he's a perfect 4th OF if a couple of McKinney/Hernandez/Biggio/Pompey/Alford pass him. It's pretty conceivable that the 2021 version of the team is competitive and with Pillar acting as 4th OF for reasonably cheap.
  20. Tellez is a pure DH who had a 115 wRC+ in AAA last year. Alford had a wRC+ of 87 in AAA this year. Respectable organizations don't clear out 25-man spots on opening day for players who have not succeeded at AAA. These players are not 'blocked'. They are prospects entering their age-24 seasons who still have to prove that they deserve an extended major league look. They both had an opportunity to do that last year and AAA, and both of them failed.
  21. Is anyone doing this? Are any players who have thrived at AAA being left off the roster outside of Vlad for service time reasons? How many players has this org ever left in AAA for too long when they were clearly ready? Because everyone complains about it every April, but it doesn't really ever happen. Tellez is not going to be left to murder AAA all season. If he hits, he'll be given an MLB shot, and if he doesn't, he might still be given an MLB shot. Nobody is being blocked. Nobody is wasting away on the farm.
  22. Tellez will most likely fail in the majors this year, and it's not like they're going to close the book on him if he struggles - he'd be sent to AAA. Sending him there off the bat still provides the team with data: if he crushes AAA they'll bring him up and see if it transfers. If he's only a bit above average again he'll be gone in two years when his options run out. I don't really think Shatkins actually sees him as an important piece though. You can buy a Justin Bour for like 1/2.5 on the FA market, and Rowdy Tellez will probably not be better than Justin Bour. Not many teams are interested in rostering players with his skill set.
