We go through this every year with players with MLB time under their belt. I'll never understand why people want anyone with MLB time to be given a 25-man spot out of the gate. Tellez is a 24-year old DH who has a 115 wRC+ in his AAA career. Asking him to hit his way on to the roster in April isn't unreasonable. He probably sucks, but if he doesn't he'll find his way onto the roster.

Why are so many people who have been posting here for like a decade seemingly under the impression that teams only use 25 players all season? Zero good orgs clear a 25-man spot for optionable players the season after they first reach the majors unless they're an uber-prospect. Pillar is not 'blocking' anyone. I literally can;t remember the last time a Blue Jays prospect was held in AAA too long because they were 'blocked' at the MLB level. That's barely a thing that even happens in baseball.

Both of those guys have something to prove at AAA and I don’t think either is the kind of player you play service time games with. If Tellez rakes in AAA I don’t really have any doubts that they’ll punt Morales and get him up. Vlad is clearly being held down for service time, and I see the same happening with Bo, but everyone else is being held back for baseball reasons.

I think the only player who will be held down for non-baseball reasons this year is Vald.

Has the 13-man pitching limit been conformed? I also don't really see the strikeout numbers as a problem. Strikeouts are fun.

What do we do with the waiver order in this league to start the season? Also, is there a way to waive all free agents, or is that just a Fantrax thing?

We needed to clear a 40-man spot, so it was him, Pompey, or Davis getting the boot. Getting 500k is a great return given the circumstances if there’s anyone worth signing.

The biggest problem with the game right now is pace of play and endless pitching changes. So of course MLB does something to exacerbate the problem (26-man rosters) and is considering two more rule changes that will have zero effect on the problem (moving the mounds back and banning the shift).
