  1. Everyone has one or two waiver draft success stories, but overall it doesn’t move the needle at all on league parity. The cut down is annoying and doesn’t serve its intended purpose.
  2. I also like the idea of end-of-roster players carrying a bit of trade value.
  3. I’ve wanted this for years but haven’t said anything. The intent was to redistribute talent, but nothing of much value hits the waiver draft anyway. LoD has had no issues with talent being too concentrated. Successful rebuilds happen, and it’s a 30-team league.
  4. I’ve been wondering this too. I’ll ask Fantrax.
  5. Current chopping block: Robinson Chirinos J.P. Crawford Hunter Pence Jose Urena Zack Britton Amir Garrett Rafael Montero
  6. Kind of. Boxy and I swapped all our MiLB and waiver picks.
  7. I haven't found a better way of restoring pick order than doing it manually like you're suggesting. In LoD and BORED I periodically save the pick order at Other -> Draft Picks in case this happens.
  8. Edgar is actually a very good comp. If Votto finishes up strong he should finish with more HR, R, RBI, H, and SB, and a very comparable career wRC+ and fWAR. He's also played about three times as many games in the field as Edgar did in his career. Votto has 6 AS games and Edgar has 7 Votto has an MVP, and Edgar has his two batting titles Neither is likely to win a WS and both are likely to spend their entire career with the same team. They have very similar cases if Votto can finish his career with a few strong seasons.
  9. I wonder if Shatkins is looking through the FA reliever scraps. There are still a few guys I'd give a cheap MLB deal to: Hirano, Hunter, Jeffress, Kintzler, McHugh, Phelps, Strop, and Vizcaino are all interesting to at least some degree. It would only take a Pannone DFA to make room.
  10. Votto is probably Canada's last reasonable shot at the HoF for a few decades. It would be great to see him rebound a bit this year and build his case. It's interesting because it's going to be almost a purely sabermetric case, outside of his MVP award and 6 all-star games. If he finishes with a strong 4 years, he'll get up to the mid-60s in fWAR but he's still not going to compile any clear HoF totals (3000 hits or 500 HR). He does have a chance to become just the 15th player ever with 1500 walks! He probably needs another monster season or to contribute meaningfully to a Reds WS. Neither of which seems very likely.
  11. Done. It was never in doubt.
  12. It remains absurd that Schilling isn’t in. IIRC he doesn’t even have any PED baggage like Bonds Clemens. I’d be interested in knowing if the young FanGraphs type voters are leaving him off their ballots.
  13. f*** yeah. Harold Baines being in and Walker off the ballot would be a bridge too far.
  14. I barely even know who Simmons is.
  15. Also, I'm very pleased to have soundly defeated BTS is a bad mod last week.
  16. Holy crap, a PG who shoots 57% is absolute gold.
  17. So is Walker getting in?
  18. Yeah, I don't really understand why McGuire would have significant trade value. He's a nice player to have in a catching tandem, but it can't hit and the market doesn't pay for catcher defense. You can always go get a Yan Gomes or Tyler Flowers on the cheap if you're looking for a player like McGuire.
  19. It was obviously going to happen, but still sad to see King Felix sign a minor league deal
  20. I've added two Notes to the league in Fantrax (Other -> Notes): an owner list and a list of 2021 waiver draft picks. Going forward (after the 2020 waiver draft is finished) we're going to track waiver picks on that note and not on the google docs sheet. I've also moved the league constitution to the league rules page (Other -> League Rules Summary). I want to be more diligent about updating them if changes are made or clarification is required. I'm going to update it over the next week or so.
  21. I read this and thought to myself "Maybe Spanky is right and Scott Oberg became elite and just flew under the radar for me". So I checked Fangraphs. Imagine my disappointment when I saw that Scott Oberg is exactly who I thought he was.
  22. Nothing in particular. I could move fringe keepers for pick upgrades. I could trade Ramos. I could trade Brantley for a similarly valuable SP. I could trade for an elite RP.
