Why would you think I want anything to do with making decisions in the DDL? I've definitely never indicated otherwise. I've been trying to give up my commish powers in BORED for like 2 years now, but there haven't been any takers. My LoD powers were vested in me by the late Cyborg. I will use those powers to prevent you from joining the league mostly because I think you're an incompetent and unreliable owner, but also because I think you're a terrible person and don't want anything to do with you. I hope that clears everything up.

Our last spot to open up in LoD was over a year ago when Laika joined. I hope no new spots open up, but CD will be getting the first invite if one does.

The feels like the kind of situation that will end up lingering all year and limit Paxton to like 5 September starts. Probably ends up accepting a QO from NY instead of trying to land 80M with a good 2020.

It does look like a punting of the 2020 season. I can see why Sox fans would be pissed, but from the outside looking in, it's probably the right move for the long-term to peel the band-aid off now and pick up Verudgo and Graterol if Boston has determined that they don't want to pay Betts his 350 or 400M or whatever it was going to take to keep him. I think this was a very sensible and defensible move.

I'm seeing lots of 'bad for baseball' bellyaching about the Betts trade. Apparently the Red Sox aren't allowed to trade a pending FA who's refusing to sign ahead of free agency unless he gets, like, $400M. I feel like Verdugo is being improperly evaluated by the masses. It's 5 years of control of a guy who just put up 2.2 wins over less than 400 PA in his age-23 season, and projects at 3+ wins this year. I think he's objectively a more valuable asset than Mookie Betts. He's a plus baserunner, a borderline elite corner OF, and an easy plus hitter with exceptionally low K rates. It's pretty much just injuries that would prevent him from being at least an average player over the next 5 years, and there's 4-win upside there easily.

If he was willing to talk extension before free agency he'd be signed by now.

I have no issues with the Twins move to acquire Maeda. It's 4 years of cheap control of a league average starter for a team very high on the win curve. I don't think Graterol is too high a price to pay for that.
