  1. Going into his age-28 season his career fWAR was -0.1 and he had 15 career homeruns. He's now pushing 40 fWAR and 500 homers.
  2. I'm probably going to have Nelson Cruz nightmares tonight.
  3. His elite closer s*** the bed today, and he had no good arms left in the pen for the 10th inning. I'm not a fan of Montoyo's, but this is a weird time for this thread.
  4. Feels like the Rays never make mistakes like that
  5. Those were some ugly right-handed swings from Choi
  6. The Miami Marlins are apparently riddled with covid.
  7. What's the word on Hatch's breaking ball? I haven't noticed one in this inning, but the fastball/changeup combo is impressive.
  8. I'm guessing it will be the main focus of the offseason. It's full of arms that have a shot at being good high leverage arms (Bass, Romano, Cole, Dolis), but the reality is that the only proven guy is Giles, and most of the others won't become elite.
  9. This is also a fair point. This isn't a very good bullpen outisde of Giles.
  10. I do not enjoy watching Gaviglio in high leverage situations. His value is as a guy who can eat innings in relief and spot start.
  11. Mike Clevinger's hair though
  12. Splitter looked better in the Lowe AB than it has all game
  13. Shoe still doesn't have the nasty splitter working.
  14. Don't make me hate Matt Olson
  15. Ohtani didn't break right away for 3rd on a ground ball to 2B and got thrown out. Would have scored on a single 1 or 2 ABs later. Then their bullpen completely imploded.
  16. I thought it would feel like the shootout in hockey, which is a farce. But this still feels like baseball. Teams still have to execute in a normal way to score runs. Ohtani made a baseball mistake, his team didn't score, and they lost the game.
  17. Guys, after 12 hours to digest, I think I enjoyed the runner at 2B to start extra innings rule last night.
  18. That is perfect lineup construction.
  19. Also, I think almost everyone has done a good job with the rules. It's been over 3 weeks, and I think I've edited/deleted less than 5 posts and locked one thread. And the forum has been immeasurably more enjoyable to read and participate in.
  20. My takeaway from the original post was that Biggio was being a good teammate to Alford. I wouldn't have posted it, because I don't care about stories like that and also because I know what direction the discussion was going to take, but it was about the Blue Jays. Every post after the original post was not about Biggio or Alford, but rather about BLM.
  21. I can't think of a single example of blatant service time manipulation for a pitcher, aside from the Jays pushing Pearson back a week, which is a no-brainer.
  22. The Angels bullpen is an embarrassment
  23. I was annoyed by it at first, and now it doesn't bother me. Actually, I haven't minded the lack of audience at all.
