  1. DeGrom throwing 99-102 and struck out Robles with a slider at 93.
  2. I think that viewing the trade deadline as an arms race is a good way to burn assets shorten your contention window. Playoffs are a crapshoot.
  3. Dude gets to pitch against whatever's left of the Washington lineup. Talk about easing back into things.
  4. He was joking
  5. White might actually be pretty useful
  6. If he's good, why don't he hit good?
  7. Wat. Were any of these guys top-10 in Minny's system?
  8. So the Angels were the high bidder for Syndergaard in the offseason, he's mostly been disappointing this year, and now they think he has real value? What a terrible organization.
  9. FYI to both sides of this argument: literally nobody cares
  10. The Cardinals are basically the anthithesis of the Padres: they make a big high-profile addition a couple times a decade, and mostly draft and develop their teams. They have 21 0.500+ seasons in the last 22 years, 15 playoff appearances, and 2 world series titles over that time. Preller is fun to watch, but he's reckless and the Padres are probably going to suck within a couple years.
  11. He's only finished 7 games, so no chance that gets triggered. What a stupid escalator.
  12. 3M team option next year with 1M buyout
  13. Did anyone else just realize in the last 10 minutes that Bass doesn't suck this year?
  14. MikeM has requested from beyond the grave that the following message be posted: AA > Atkins
  15. I realize he has the right, but I feel like if I had spent the last 5 years being paid tons of money and not delivering anything in return, I'd feel a sense of obligation to accept a trade to MLB Siberia.
  16. For now. I don't think Preller is competent enough to maintain a good supporting cast. They now have no farm, and they don't have the financial resources of the Dodgers or yankees.
  17. Imagine being a 1B who can't hit and walking into the clubhouse and looking your teammates in the eye after you single-handedly prevented Juan Soto from joining the team.
  18. I feel the opposite way. If anything, Atlanta winning last year with an Acuna-less medicore team is evidence that you just need to get into the playoffs every year and roll the dice.
  19. Also, Soto and Tatis are on the same team. And Manny Machado is their 3rd-best hitter. I literally can not process this trade.
  20. I still can't wrap my head around being so inept that you have to trade a future HoFer at 23 years old.
  21. I don't know anything about Woods or Susana, but quick Fangraphs and Twitter scouting tells me they might be legit. This is about as good a prospect haul as you could expect.
  22. How do you not get at least one good, young major leaguer when you trade a 23-year old on a HoF trajectory? Edit: I guess Gore is in the deal too.
  23. I don't think that Riley contract is going to age well. He's already a bad 3B at 25, and his only real skill is hitting the ball hard. Seems like one-dimensional sluggers with K/BB issues have not had much longevity.
