Yeah. Down to 4 years left on the deal after this one. If they're willing to eat anywhere close to 50% they could probably return a killing. 4 x 5.75 cap hit is really attractive for a d-man who plays 25 minutes a night and is on a 100-point pace halfway through the season.
So if the Dodgers actually end up releasing him, I wonder if that means he's getting the Bonds/Puig collusion treatment. Anyone willing to pay him the min should also be willing to pay him a couple million to secure his services via trade with LA.
A team like TB that can't afford to care about PR should be all over Bauer. Neander should already be on the phone trying to get Bauer for half the 32M he's owed.
I agree with connorp here. If the Giants are the high bidder on Conforto, they're likely going to sign him. Boras isn't going to cost his client money because his feelings were hurt in the Correa negotiation.
Giants basically have to sign Conforto now.
I do respect the stones required to walk away because of concerning medicals though. The PR hit will be brutal. That's a huge financial commitment to a guy you have health concerns about before the ink dries.
The details of the hockey canada assault that came out in the Globe and Mail are really bad. A bunch of players are going to catch lifetime bans from the NHL.
