Anytime you can move three good young assets for 2 years of a one-dimensional scoring winger who isn't elite, and then lock him up for 8 years at near elite money because the optics of letting him walk would be terrible, you do it. Especially when you won't even make the playoffs in the two years you originally acquired. FML

    Lol Ottawa
  3. Nobody looks good in this exchange.
  4. No, I just didn't feel like a Wilson debate.
  5. Yup, the BBDL is definitely a good way to gauge player values.
  6. These are pretty much non-factors though. Well, Wilson is a guy I guess.
  7. Yeah, I guess it is nice to have someone to bounce an idea off of. Every once in awhile I'll solicit an opinion from a 3rd party. I could never have someone making roster moves for me though.
  8. Imagine if Pittsburgh had Bautista now?
  9. I don't understand the love for co-managers. I'm far too anal about this to let someone make decisions for me.
  10. There was no way to know at the time, but if I knew how good this league would be I would have paid a fair bit of money to enter. You can't find leagues this good, and it's provided countless hours of entertainment.
  11. The BBDL got $100.... so more than that.
  12. I wonder how many people would be interested if a DDL spot opened up.
  13. It looks like we're going to enter our 3rd season with all 20 original members. I've never seen anything like this before.
  14. It's all tied together though. To quote an idiot, baseball is hard. Punting the future to open up a 3-year window is a bad strategy because things tend not to go as planned. Make your goal perpetual contention, and eventually things will go right. Reyes, Dickey, and Buehrle have performed as expected and earned their contracts, but you can't give up a significant amount of assets just to land expensive veterans who will merely be worth their contracts. That's bad business long term. and if things don't break just right in the 1-2 year window you open up, it's catastrophic.
  15. Can he also be ineligible to manage? That would be great.
  16. Well you were like 3 when he was hired and 11 when he was fired, so nobody really blames you.
  17. in: Kemp + Billingsley + Lincecum + payroll space out: Wells and Rios What could have been.
  18. Kemp and Billingsley IIRC
  19. Pirates or Padres is my guess.
  20. If either happens, JPR is still GM.
  21. Also, if he had the payroll and draft budget that AA has been allowed, relative to the rest of the league. AA has been given a lot more opportunity for success by ownership, and so far the results have been worse than what JPR accomplished with less.
  22. That, and Morrow probably stills sees himself as a starter. He'll probably go to the NL on a cheap 1-year deal and try to re-establish some value.
